Brief

Dulahazara Safari Park was developed on an undulating landscape of around 2,224 acres (9.00 km²) of area at Chakaria Upazila in Cox’s Bazar District, Bangladesh, some 107 km away from the port city, Chittagong, with an objective to create facilities for eco-tourism, research work and entertainment aside from conserving wild animals in a natural environment.

Dulahazara Safari Park is home to at least 4,000 animals of 165 species. After the new government took over in January 2007, joint forces rescued many of these new residents of the park during their drives at houses and establishments owned by graft suspects. Many individuals also donated some of the animals to the park during this period. The seized and donated animals recently sent to the park include 90 spotted deer, 42 barking deer, three sambar deer, one freshwater crocodile, onesaltwater crocodile, nine black bears, four pythons, 17 peacocks, 19 Turkish pheasants and two emus.

An other source of animals is the Dhaka Zoo. While the animal population in Dhaka zoo has increased over the years due to their breeding, the Dhaka zoo donates a number of lions and tigers to the Dulahazara Safari Park.

How to go

This park is located at Chakaria Upazila in Cox’s Bazar district with around 2,224 acres of area (9 sq. km2), around 107 km away from Chittagong port city. From Dhaka, you should take the bus going to Cox’s Bazar and reach the Chakaria Upazila in Dulahazara Union. The park is near before the Dulahazara bus stand. Also, from Cox’s Bazar, you can hire Zeep or other available vehicle to reach the park.

Things to do

The park itself protects a large number of wild elephants which are native to the area. In the safari park there are domesticated elephants which are available for a ride. Other animal attractions include lions, Bengal tigers, crocodiles, bears, spotted deer and many types of birds and monkeys.

Since the park was made open to the public, it has been drawing a huge crowd all year round — 6,000 visitors daily during peak season (November to March) and 2,000 visitors daily during off season (April to October).

In Wari, exactly at "Tati Bazar Mor (তাঁতি বাজার মোড়)", there is a lovely place inside a boundary which is called "Nogore Nishorgo". This initiative had been taken by the Bangladesh government as a process of embellishment the Dhaka City. It is hard to find any beauty at this Dhaka city, almost no sign of green. Authority just wanted to give some green flavor by creating some artificial structures of this park.

Nazimgarh 'Nature Park' is located on the banks of the Sharee River at Lalakhal, a picturesque place at the base of the Jaintia Hills bordering the Indian State of Meghalaya. The 'Sharee' originates at a height of 1420 meters (4650 feet) from a place called Mitimyntdu, close to Jowai town of the West Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya. There, the river is known as Myntdu or "Ka Tawiarka Takam" (Our Guardian Angel) in the local Pnar (Khasi) dialect.

Encircling Jowai town on three sides, the Myntdu flows south through Leshka valley to reach Borghat village within Jaintia Hills before entering Bangladesh as the 'Sharee' at Lalakhal.

The river brings from the hills much sand and other minerals that give the waters a unique blue-green colour. While in the dry season the river is mild, its crystal clear water of an emerald colour, in the rainy season it become a raging torrent, at times over flowing its banks. Around 1340 AD, Ibne Battuta of Morocco, one of the gratest travelers of all time, is said to have travelled down this 'blue' river on his return journey after visiting Hazrat Shah Jalal in Sylhet.

'Nature Park' is on the banks of the river Sharee, near its sister resort 'Wilderness' which is located on the hillside. The 'River Queen' restaurant is the focal point with its panoramic view following the bend in the river. The 'Adventure Camp' tent site is nearby, under the shade of the surrounding trees. These comfortable tents give guests a sense of nature and adventure rarely available in other places. The clear night sky allows one to see stars with a clarity that needs to be experienced to be truly believed. It is Nature in its purest form.

{:}{:bn}নাজিমগড় ন্যাচারাল পার্ক সিলেটের লালাখালে সারি নদীর তীরে অবস্থিত। ভারতের মেঘালয় রাজ্যে সীমান্তবর্তী জৈন্তা পাহাড়ের পাদদেশে ছবির মত সুন্দর লালাখালের সারি নদীর তীরে নাজিমগড়ের ‘ন্যাচার পার্কটি’ অবস্থিত। সারি নদীর উৎপত্তি হয়েছে মেঘালয় রাজ্যের পশ্চিম জৈন্তা হিল ডিসট্রিক্টের জোয়াই শহরের কাছে অবস্থিত মিতিমইন্দু নামক স্থানে প্রায় ১৪২০ মিটার (৪৬৫০ ফুট) উঁচু থেকে। এখানে এই নদীটি খাসিদের ভাষায় মিন্দু অথবা “কা তাউইরকা তাকাম” (যার অর্থ আমাদের দেবদূত অভিভাবক) নামে পরিচিত। জোয়াই শহরকে তিনদিক থেকে ঘিরে থাকা মিন্দু নদীটি বাংলাদেশের লালাখালে সারি নদী হিসেবে প্রবেশের পূর্বে লেসকা ভ্যালীর মধ্যে দিয়ে দক্ষিন দিকে প্রবাহিত হয়ে জৈন্তা পাহাড়ের মধ্য দিয়ে বোরঘাট গ্রামে পৌঁছেছে। পাহাড় থেকে সারি নদীর সাথে প্রচুর বালু এবং অন্যান্য খনিজ সম্পদ বয়ে আসার কারনে এই নদীর পানি নীল ও সবুজ রঙের সমন্বয়ে এক অপূর্ব বর্ণ ধারন করেছে। শুকনো মৌসুমে এই নদীটি শান্ত থাকে এবং এটির স্বচ্ছ পানি সবুজ রঙ ধারন করে। অথচ আবার বর্ষাকালে এই নদীটি এতটাই অশান্ত হয়ে ওঠে যে কখনো কখনো নদীর তীর প্লাবিত হয়ে যায়। আনুমানিক ১৩৪০ সালে বিশ্বের অন্যতম নামকরা পর্যটক মরক্কোর ইবনে বতুতা সিলেটে হযরত শাহজালাল (রঃ) এর সাথে সাক্ষাৎ করে ফেরার পথে এই ‘নীল’ নদীটি অতিক্রম করেছিলেন। এই উদ্যানের অন্যতম আকর্ষণ হল ‘রিভার কুইন’ রেস্টুরেন্ট যেখান থেকে নদীর বাঁকের চমৎকার মনোরম দৃশ্য উপভোগ করা যায়। এই রেস্টুরেন্টের কাছে গাছের ছায়ায় রয়েছে ‘অ্যাডভেঞ্চার ক্যাম্পের’ তাঁবু। আরামদায়ক এসব তাঁবুতে অতিথিরা একদিকে প্রকৃতির কাছাকাছি আসতে পারবেন আবার পাশাপাশি অ্যাডভেঞ্চারও করতে পারবেন। এখানকার রাতের পরিষ্কার আকাশে আপনি তারাদের দেখতে পারবেন যা এখানে এসে নিজ চোখে না দেখলে বিশ্বাস করতে পারবেন না। এক কথায় বলা যায় যে প্রকৃতি তার বিশুদ্ধতম রুপে এখানে আবির্ভূত হয়েছে। সূত্র: www.nazimgarh.com{:} ) [3] => Array ( [name] => {:en}Barshijora Eco Park{:}{:bn}বরশিজোড়া ইকোপার্ক{:} [post_id] => 4045 [post_link] => http://offroadbangladesh.com/bn/places/barshijora-eco-park/ [thumb_link] => http://offroadbangladesh.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Barshijora-Eco-Park-300x200.jpg [post_content] => {:en}

Barshijora Eco Park is located in Moulvibazar Sadar, 2 km from the Zila Sadar. This eco park is also an attempt to conserve our precious nature. It is not yet that much developed as other eco parks. When you are in the town and have a little time with nothing to do at all, this might be the place you may make a short visit to.

Barshijora Eco Park was established on 887 acres of reserve forest near Moulvibazar town in 2006. The forest was declared reserve in 1916. Many timber and medicinal plants were planted there later. Two eco-cottages, four picnic spots, two observation towers, security posts, five public toilets and power supply line are there. The Eco Park also has many common species of fauna.
