মনপুরা দ্বীপের রয়েছে ঐতিহাসিক প্রেক্ষাপট। ৬০০ বছর পূর্বে পর্তুগীজ দস্যুরা এই দ্বীপে আশ্রয় নিত।পর্তুগীজদের প্রস্থানের পর ভোলা, লক্ষ্মীপুর এবং নোয়াখালী থেকে মানুষজন এই দ্বীপে এসে বাস করতে শুরু করে। বাংলাদেশের দক্ষিনে অবস্থিত এই দ্বীপটির আয়তন ৩৭৩.১৯ কিলোমিটার এবং জনসংখ্যা প্রায় ৫০ হাজার। প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্যতে ভরপুর এই দ্বীপটির অবস্থান একটু দুর্গম হলেও আপনি যদি প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্যের ভিন্ন রূপ দেখতে এবং তাঁর স্বাদ নিতে চান তবে এই দ্বীপে বেড়াতে আসতে পারেন।
How to go
আপনি ঢাকার সদরঘাট লঞ্চ টার্মিনাল থেকে লঞ্চে করে সরাসরি মনপুরায় যেতে পারেন। সদরঘাট থেকে বিকাল ৫.৩০ মিনিটে লঞ্চ ছেড়ে যায় এবং পরদিন সকাল ৭ টায় মনপুরায় পৌঁছে। এছাড়াও, প্রতিদিন সদরঘাট থেকে একাধিক লঞ্চ যেমনঃ টিপু-৪, পানামা বিকাল ৫.৩০ মিনিটে হাতিয়ার উদ্দেশে ছেড়ে যায় এবং পরদিন সকাল ৭ টায় মনপুরায় যাত্রাবিরতি করে।

Mainly connected by vessels with Dhaka.
There are bus services available at Dhaka Gabtoli and Sayedabad counters to go to Bhola. There are two routes by road. You can whether go to Bhola crossing Barisal or by passing Lakshmipur.
From Dhaka to Bhola, it is a distance of 195 km if you travel by water. Some of the launch services available are as follows:

These launches start from Sadarghat, Dhaka at 7:30 pm or 8:00 pm at night and is expected to reach the destination at 6 am or 6:30 am in the next morning.

Things to do
১। মোটর সাইকেল অথবা স্থানীয়ভাবে “টুকটুক” নামে পরিচিত ইজিবাইকে চড়ে আপনি পুরো দ্বীপটি ঘুরে দেখতে পারেন।
২। আপনি বনে এবং নদীর পাড়ে ঘুরতে পারেন, নৌকা ভ্রমন করতে পারেন এবং নদীতে মাছ ধরতে পারেন।
৩। ছবি তুলতে পারেন।
Eating Facilities
There are a few restaurants along highway road and in the local markets, most serving Bangladeshi standards. But expectations regarding food should not be high.
