Brief

Raja Ballal Sen excavated the Balia Dighi. Many say that since it is a sandy dighi so it is known as Balia Dighi. It is located on south of Kotowali gate. Its volume is 39.8 acre.

The major transportation system in this town is the bus service to different districts and towns. The main transportation route is Nawabganj-Rajshahi. The bus transportation service is off three types which are gate-lock, direct and local service. The others bus routes are Nawabganj-Shibganj, Nawabganj-Naogaon, Nawabganj-Nachol, Nawabganj-Rohanpur.

The BRTC bus service serves for the long intra-district route to almost all important districts of Bangladesh. The most important long route is the Nawabganj-Dhaka. This route has ample bus service. There are two bus stoppages. The biggest one is called Chapai Nawabganj Bus Terminal and the other is the Dhaka Bus Terminal. Sona Mosjid-Rajshahi-Sona Mosjid bus Service are on at 7.15am to 5.15pm every 1 hour after.

In the past, the main transport system was based on the water path. The river Padma (Ganges), Mahananda River, Pagla, Moraganga and some beels (marshland) were used for intra-district transport system. The water level went down due to adverse effect of Farakka Barrage on Padma (Ganges) river, and therefore, water transport has lost its popularity. But still rivers are used for transportation of daily goods from different parts of the district. Still the transportation from the villages in western and eastern parts of the district depends on the boat. In the Shibgonj Upazila have a small river name [pagla].

There are limited railway services with Rohanpur and Rajshahi. One of the international rail line passes through the district to Malda, West Bengal, India. There are few services of local train from different stations of Chapai Nawabganj such as Nawabganj Sadar, Amnura, Nachole, Nijampur, Rahanpur to Rajshahi and other parts of Bangladesh and also has a shuttle service from Nawabganj to Rajshahi for the intercity train service from Rajshahi to other part of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has very few lakes enlisted under populous tourist spot. Apart from the list, there are few lakes available around the country those can be a supreme destination for any traveler. Raikhong lake is the most prominent from that promising list. The elevation of the lake has around 1165 ft.

This lake is situated at the Rangamati district, not at Bandarban. But, for its location, you have to go there through the Bandarban. That will be the easiest way among all other available, because Rangamati offers communication throw water path only, and also the lake is at the last corner of Rangamati district. No matter how you are going, it’s recommended to pick an expert or guide with you.

Around the lake, you'll find two villages, one is at the eastern bank of the lake, and other one is at western bank. Those villages are known as Pukur Para (পুকুর পারা). May be it’s because of having around the lake. Both the village denizens are Tripura, but religiously Christian. People from West side of the lake used to do uphill and downhill task to come at the lake, but at eastern side's villagers can access the lake easily being so close of it, and having almost at flatland.

People also call this lake as Pukur Para (পুকুর পারা) lake. Also from few local people I have heard them pronouncing the lake's name as Raichong (রাইচং). Not sure which one will be the correct one. No matter what they are saying, or what we are, the beauty of the lake is not going to decrease by that.

Local people used to catch fish from the lake. There is no prohibition about catching fish from that giant lake. Tilapia (তেলাপিয়া) is the first choice from those fishes to stick over the net of the fishermen. At the eastern corner of the lake, there is a tiny Jhiri (ঝিরি) generated from the lake water. Probably that was created to keep the level of the lake water under control. During the rainy season the abundant water from the lake used to pass through that channel and used to join with the Raikhong Canal.

Being many hills around the lake, and the mysterious behavior from the sky, you'll find different colorful scene at the lake water. Remember, half of the lake water is being untouched by the human. People don't used to go those portions normally. So you'll find that area of the lake more beautiful than the proximity of the locality. There is a helipad available at the Pukur Para Army Camp. From that high land, you'll probably get a picturesque aerial view of the lake.

বাংলাদেশে খুব কম লেক রয়েছে যেগুলোকে নামকরা পর্যটন স্পট হিসেবে বলা যায়। সারাদেশে পর্যটকদের তীর্থস্থান বলা যায় এমন লেকের সংখ্যা খুবই কম। প্রায় ১১৬৫ ফুট উঁচুতে অবস্থিত রাইখং লেককে বলা চলে তেমনই একটি তীর্থস্থান। স্থানীয়রা অনেকে লেকটির নাম রাইচং বলে উচ্চারিত করে। তবে লেকটির নামের উচ্চারণ যাই হোক না কেন এতে করে লেকের সৌন্দর্য কোন অংশেই কমবে না।

রাঙ্গামাটিতে অবস্থিত হলেও ভৌগলিক অবস্থানের কারনে এই লেকে আপনাকে বান্দরবানের মধ্যে দিয়ে যেতে হবে। রাঙ্গামাটি জেলার শেষপ্রান্তে অবস্থিত এই লেকে রাঙ্গামাটি দিয়ে পৌছাতে হলে আপনাকে জলপথ পাড়ি দিতে হবে তাই বান্দরবান দিয়ে যাওয়াই হবে সবচেয়ে সহজ। তবে আপনি যেভাবেই যান না কেন সাথে করে অবশ্যই একজন গাইড রাখবেন।

লেকের পূর্বতীরে এবং পশ্চিমতীরে দুটি গ্রাম দেখতে পাবেন যেগুলো পুকুরপাড়া নামে পরিচিত। হয়তোবা চারপাশে লেকের উপস্থিতির কারনেই গ্রামের এমন নামকরণ। দুটি গ্রামের অধিবাসীরাই ত্রিপুরা গোত্রের এবং তাঁরা খ্রিষ্টান ধর্মের অনুসারী। লেকের পশ্চিম তীরের গ্রামবাসীদের পাহাড় বেয়ে উঠা নামা করে এই লেকে আসতে হয় তবে খুব কাছে সমতল ভুমিতে অবস্থিত হওয়ায় পূর্বপ্রান্তের গ্রামবাসীরা সহজেই লেকে আসতে পারেন।

বিশাল রাইখং লেক থেকে মাছ ধরতে নিষেধ না থাকায় স্থানীয়রা এখান থেকে মাছ ধরে থাকে। লেকের বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির মাছের মধ্যে তেলাপিয়া মাছ সবচেয়ে বেশি ধরা পড়ে। লেকের পূর্ব প্রান্তে লেকের পানি থেকে সৃষ্ট একটি ছোট ঝিরি রয়েছে। সম্ভবত লেকের পানির স্তর নিয়ন্ত্রনে রাখতে ঝিরিটি সৃষ্টি হয়। বর্ষাকালে লেক থেকে প্রচুর পানি এই ঝিরিটি দিয়ে রাইখং খালে যেয়ে পড়ে। লেকের চারপাশে অনেক পাহাড় থাকাতে এবং আকাশের রহস্যময় আচরণের কারনে লেকের পানি বিভিন্ন বর্ণ ধারন করে। প্রায় অর্ধেক লেকের পানি মানুষ ব্যবহার করে না কারন লেকের সেই অংশে মানুষ যাতায়াত করে না। একারনে লেকের ঐ অংশ আপনার কাছে চারপাশের তুলনায় অনেক সুন্দর মনে হবে। পুকুরপাড়া সেনাক্যাম্পে একটি হেলিপ্যাড রয়েছে। এখানকার উঁচু স্থান থেকে আপনি পাখির চোখে ছবির মত সুন্দর এই লেকটিকে দেখতে পাবেন।

Madhobpur Lake and Tea Estate is located in Kamalganj Upazila of Moulvibazar District. The pleasant natural Madhobpur Lake is surrounded by small hills (Tila). Most of the hills are planted with tea trees. The bank side of the lake is full of lotuses and lilies. The color of the lilies is bluish which adorns this place with a bluish sphere. The lake is surrounded by small hills.

The lake is so wide and it’s hard to cover the whole lake with your camera. There is always heavy wind blows surround the lake that made the water of the lake looks like a river or calm sea water. You might have seen such kind of magenta and white colored lilies before. It is so beautiful, and the lily looks like a bit glowing from far. It seems that someone Photoshoped the flowers for that glowings.

Alta Dighi is located approximately 56km away from Zilla Sadar. Its length is 1113 meters, breadth 42.81 meters and volume of 42.81 meters. It is a very attractive spot for the tourists. This is situated exactly near at the India-Bangladesh border at the North Bengal. There is a beautiful forest near the dighi.
