Karatoya River (also spelt Korotoa) (Bengali:
করতোয়া নদী), a small stream in Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh, was once a large and sacred river. A channel of it presently flows by the ancient ruins of Mahasthangarh (or Pundranagara, ancient capital of Pundravardhana) in Bogra District. The
Karatoya mahatmya bears testimony to its past greatness. In the
Mahabharata it is mentioned that a visit to the Karatoya after three days’ fast produces the same merit as an aswamedha (horse killing) sacrifice. Another ancient city, Sravasti, may have been located on the banks of the Karatoya, north of Mahasthangarh. However, there is a controversy about the possible location of Sravasti.
The Karatoya, known as Phuljhur rises in the Baikunthapur jungles in the extreme north-west of Jalpaiguri district (West Bengal, India) and forms for some distance the boundary between Dinajpur and Rangpur districts. It, then, meanders through Rangpur and Bogra. In the south of Bogra district, it receives the Halhalia and the united stream is then known as Phuljhur. It leaves Bogra at Chanda kona and flowing in a southerly direction past Raiganj and Shujapur is, as already mentioned, joined by lchhamati at Nalka. The Phuljhur then flows south past the important village of Ullapara, a few miles below which it joins the Hurasagar at Narnia after a course of about 64 kilometres (40 mi) in this district. After this junction, it takes the name of Hurasagar and passing close by Shazadpur and Hera joins the Jamuna near Bera.
The Karatoya is mentioned in the Puranas and had a high repute for sanctity. It was the eastern boundary of the old kingdom of Paundravardhana, the country of the Paundras which it separated from Kamrupa. It is shown in Van Den Brouk's map of Bengal (C, 1660) as flowing into the Ganges and in fact. before the destructive floods of 1787 it brought down to the Atrai and to the Ganges a great volume of Teesta water. Since the main stream of the Teesta was dirverted to the east in 1787, the Karatoya and the Phuljhur have gradually silted up. and they are at the present day rivers of minor importance. One channel, which joins the Baral, 48 kilometres (30 mi) east of Pabna. is still called indifferently the Buri Teesta or old Teesta and the Karto or Karatoya. Traces of an old channel, for which the name of the Karatoya is claimed, are also pointed out in the Chatmohar thana, where it appears to have been obliterated by the Baral.

Purakhali Baor holds a area of 78 hectors in general, where in rainy season, the size enlarges to 94 hectors. There is 2 hectors sized Sanctuary containing 22 species of natural fish, 17 species of local and foreign birds, and 9 types of Aquatic Plants. There are mainly 4 villages surrounding the Baor namely Porabali, Mothuapur, Dighirpar and Dewapar.
The main objective of this sanctuary is to increase the number of natural fish, protect and nourish the birds and aquatic plants. To make those objectives successful, this sanctuary was established in the year 2000. There are 4 fish retrieved group taking care of many species of fish.
There are also many species of tree surrounding this Baor. There are around 1500 herb, fruit and other types of trees. However, there is only one nursery.

{:}{:bn}যশোর জেলার অভয়নগরের শ্রীধারপুরে পুরাখালী বিলের পরেই পুরাখালী বাওড় অবস্থিত। ৭৮ একর জমির উপর এই বাওড়টির অবস্থান হলেও বর্ষাকালে বাওড়ের আয়তন বৃদ্ধি পেয়ে দাড়ায় ৯৪ হেক্টরে। এখানে ২ হেক্টর আয়তনের একটি অভয়াশ্রমে রয়েছে ২২ প্রজাতির মাছ, ১৭ প্রজাতির দেশী ও বিদেশী পাখি এবং ৯ প্রজাতির জলজ উদ্ভিদ। পুরাখালী বাওড়কে ঘিরে থাকা গ্রামগুলো হলঃ পরাবালি, মথুয়াপুর, দীঘিরপাড় এবং দেওয়াপাড়। মাছের সংখ্যা বৃদ্ধি করার পাশাপাশি পাখি ও জলজ উদ্ভিদকে রক্ষা ও সংরক্ষণ করার উদ্দেশ্য নিয়ে ২০০০ সালে এই অভয়াশ্রমটি প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয়। এখানে ৪টি মৎস্য উদ্ধারকারী দল নানা প্রজাতির মাছের দেখাশোনা করে থাকে।
বাওড়কে ঘিরে প্রায় ১৫০০ জাতের ঔষধি গাছসহ নানা প্রজাতির উদ্ভিদ রয়েছে। এখানে মাত্র একটি নার্সারি রয়েছে।{:}

Dreamland Amusement and Water Park is one of the famous Park of Bangladesh which is situated at Helalpur, Sylhet about 8 KM ahead through Sylhet-Zakigonj Road. It is well known to all with its various arrangement particularly the newly arrangement of water park. It is a full pledged amusement park with its various collection & arrangement for the people who are fond of nature.
Dream land is an amusement park in Sylhet on a 100 acres land. It consists of many land and water rides. This park is designed for recreation of people. It operates 6 days a week Monday to Saturday and from 10:00am to 8:00pm.

Ratargul Swamp Forest is a fresh water marshland forest located close to river Goain, in Gowainghat Upazila of Sylhet District. This forest is engulfed with freshwater in most of the seasons. This evergreen forest gets over flooded during the rainy season. Different local fish are available here. It’s the terrain of different creatures’ like snakes, monkeys, lizards, insects & birds.
You may also see vulture and Eagle. Some parts of this forest are very small, so boat ride would be tough. However, it is the only swamp forest located in Bangladesh and one of the few freshwater swamp forests in the world. The forest is naturally conserved under the Department of Forestry, Government of Bangladesh.
This evergreen forest is situated by the river Goain and linked with the canal named Chengir Khal. Most of the trees grow here are Pongamia pinnata (Koroch tree). The forest goes under 20-30 feet water in the rainy season. Rest of the year the water level is about 10 feet deep.

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idmW741-fzM[/embed]{:}{:bn}রাতারগুল জলাভুমির বন সিলেট জেলার গোয়াইনঘাট উপজেলায় অবস্থিত। গোয়াইন নদীর নিকটে চেঙ্গির খালের সাথে সংযুক্ত একটি মিঠাপানির জলাভুমির বন হল রাতারগুল। এই বনটিসারাবছর প্রায় ১০ ফুট পানির নীচে থাকে এবং বর্ষাকালে চিরসবুজ এই বনটি ২০ ফুট থেকে ৩০ ফুট পানির নীচে প্লাবিত হয়। এই বনে করচ গাছ (পঙ্গামিয়া পিন্নাটা) বেশী জন্মায়। বিভিন্ন প্রকারের দেশী মাছ ছাড়াও এই বনে রয়েছে সাপ, বানর, পাখি, টিকটিকি, পোকামাকড় সহ নানা প্রজাতির প্রাণী। এখানে আপনি শকুন এবং ঈগলেরও দেখা পেতে পারেন। বনটির কিছু অংশ বেশ ছোট হওয়ায় এখানে নৌকা ভ্রমন করা কঠিন।
বাংলাদেশের একমাত্র জলাভুমির এই বনটি পৃথিবীর সামান্য কয়েকটি জলাভুমির বনগুলোর একটি যেখানে মিঠা পানি পাওয়া যায়। বাংলাদেশ সরকারের বনবিভাগ এই বনটি সংরক্ষণ করছে।{:}
