Brief

কুমিল্লা শহরে প্রায় ৯.৩৮ হেক্টর জমির উপর অবস্থিত একটি বিশাল পুকুর অথবা দীঘির নাম হলো ধর্মসাগর। স্থানীয়দের পানির চাহিদা মেটাতে ত্রিপুরার মহারাজ ধর্মমানিক্ক্যা (১৭১৪-১৭৩) এই দিঘীটি খনন করান। প্রথমদিকে দীঘির মাঝে একটি দ্বীপ ছিল। বর্তমানে ধর্মসাগরের পূর্ব তীরে কুমিল্লা স্টেডিয়াম এবং কুমিল্লা জেলা স্কুল অবস্থিত।

অন্যদিকে ধর্মসাগরের উত্তরে কুমিল্লা মিউনিসিপাল পার্ক, রানী কুঠির এবং কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম মেমোরিয়াল হল এবং দক্ষিন পূর্বে রাজ দেবী মাতৃসদন এবং একটি শিশু পরিচর্যা কেন্দ্র অবস্থিত। ঐতিহাসিক এসব স্থাপনার কারনে ধর্মসাগর একটি আকর্ষণীয় পর্যটন কেন্দ্রে রুপান্তরিত হয়েছে। শীতকালে ধর্মসাগরে অতিথি পাখি এসে থাকে।

How to go

কুমিল্লায় পৌছানোর একাধিক উপায় রয়েছে। ঢাকা থেকে কুমিল্লায় চলাচলকারী বাসগুলোর মধ্যে রয়েছেঃ এশিয়া লাইন, প্রিন্স, তিশা, রয়্যাল, প্রাইম ইত্যাদি। এসব বাসে প্রায় ২৫০/-টাকা ভাড়ায় ২ ঘণ্টা থেকে ৩ ঘণ্টায় কুমিল্লায় পৌঁছে যাবেন। এছাড়া ঢাকা থেকে ট্রেনে করেও কুমিল্লায় যেতে পারবেন। বাসগুলো কুমিল্লা শহরে গিয়ে থামে। কুমিল্লা শহরে পৌঁছে রিকশায় করে ধর্মসাগরে যেতে পারবেন।

Comilla has excellent transport and communication system. Comilla and Dhaka are linked by both road and railway. There is also an airport in the district, but it is not currently being used.

Away from panchagar town about 10 miles a big pond is situated at Amarkhana unionis popularly known as Maharajar dighi. With the bank its surface is 800 yard. Local people says that its depth is 40 feet. Its water is clear. It has 10 saghata.It is imagined that Pitthu king dag this lake. It is said that the king attacked by a lower class and suicide with family and wealth by jumping in this lake. Every year Boishakhi fair held at the bank of the river. Many time the presence of the Indian people also seen. Beside the lake there are many green designs of trees which is very dear to all till now.

This district is beautiful enough for any traveler. But the beauty of the lake added another extra ornament. The blue water from the lake will please mind easily. Most of the main infrastructures from Madaripur town was built around the lake. The DC office, police station, and many more government buildings around the lake. The academic name of the lake is "Shokuni Lake", but local people won't be able to recognize the lake by that name. They simply know the lake as "Madaripur Lake".

This large lake has two portion separated by a fishing net. One half is using for fish cultivation. This water tank was built by few hundred years back by a Raja (a king) to ease the water crisis. But now a days this is a great entertainment place for the locals. During the afternoon, it will be hard to get an empty space around the lake. Most of the people from town used to pass some pleasing time with friends here. The sweets from the lake area are famous from Madaripur.

শকুনি লেকের সৌন্দর্য মাদারীপুর জেলার প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্যে বাড়তি মাত্রা যোগ করেছে। লেকের নীল পানি আপনাকে প্রশান্তি দেবে। ডিসিঅফিস, পুলিশ স্টেশন, এবং বিভিন্ন সরকারি স্থাপনাসহ মাদারীপুরের বেশীরভাগ স্থাপনাই এই লেকের আশেপাশে নির্মাণ করা হয়। বইপত্রে এই লেকটির নাম ‘শকুনি লেক’ হলেও স্থানীয়রা এটিকে ‘মাদারীপুর লেক’ হিসেবে চেনে। একটি মাছ ধরার জাল দিয়ে এই বিশাল লেকটিকে দুই ভাগে বিভক্ত করা হয়েছে যার একটি অংশে মাছ চাষ করা হয়। কয়েকশত বছর পূর্বে জনৈক রাজা পানির সংকট নিরসনে এই লেকটি খনন করেন। বর্তমানে এই লেকটি একটি বিনোদনকেন্দ্রে পরিনত হয়েছে। বিকালবেলা এই লেকে এতটাই জনসমাগম হয় যে এখানে কোন খালি জায়গা পাওয়া দুষ্কর হয়ে ওঠে। শহরের বেশিরভাগ মানুষ পরিবার পরিজন ও বন্ধুবান্ধব নিয়ে এখানে আসেন অবসর সময় কাটাতে। লেকের আশেপাশে সুস্বাদু মিষ্টি পাওয়া যায়। এসব মিষ্টির জন্য মাদারীপুর জেলার সুখ্যাতি রয়েছে।

Boga Lake, also known as Bagakain (বগাকাইন) Lake, is the most beautiful natural lake in Bangladesh. It is 18 km away from Ruma Sadar Upazila in Bandarban. The area of this lake is about 15 acres. It is approximately 1800 feet above sea level. The color of its water is blue. Behind creation of this lake there are many mythological stories. Many tourist visit Boga lake mostly during winter. Localities of small tribe community like Bawm, Khumi can be found besides the Boga Lake. Strolling becomes difficult in the rainy season.

The road from Ruma to Boga Lake is still under construction. You might be amazed looking at the big rocks lying in and out of the Boga Lake. You can have a camp fire beside the lake which might be an unbelievable and mind-blowing memory in your life.
