নিঝুম দ্বীপে সর্বপ্রথম মহিষ ও গবাদিপশু নিয়ে বসতি স্থাপনকারী সাহসী জনৈক ওসমানের নামে এই দ্বীপের নাম ছিল চর ওসমান। পরবর্তীতে সরকারের উচ্চপদে আসীন কর্মকর্তারা এই দ্বীপের নাম পরিবর্তন করেন। তবে, এখনও নথিপত্রে নিঝুম দ্বীপ চর ওসমান নামেই পরিচিত। পর্যটকদের বেড়ানোর জন্য (বিশেষ করে শীতকালে) এই দ্বীপটি একটি আদর্শ স্থান।

Noakhali, a traveler’s unique destination, is located in the South-Eastern part of Bangladesh. On the north, the beautiful district is bounded by Comilla, the Mehgna River. On its south, resides the Meghna River and The Bay of Bengal. While Feni and Chittagong districts lie on the east, Lakshmipur and the Bhola districts are located on the west side.

Chera Dwip is elevated at about 3.6 meter above the sea level and populated by about 4,000 inhabitants the 7.315 kilometer long island is almost flat consisting of alluvial sands mixed with shells of mollusks. In addition to the main island, there are a number of tiny islets locally known as ‘Chera dwip’, which means separated island. Visitors will miss something great if they don’t glimpse at a shallow lagoon in the northern part of the island which gets connected to the sea during high tide by a narrow channel on the western coast.

Researchers have recorded 182 species of wildlife of which 4 species are amphibians, 130 birds, 20 mammals, and a fossilized coral—33,238 years old—on this very island we can boast about. A huge number of migrated birds come to this island in winter season enhancing its beauty and holy ambiance.

Tourists can book their trip either from Chittagong or from Cox's Bazar. The surrounding coral reef of the St Martin island has an extension named CheraDwip. A small bush is there, which is the only green part of CheraDwip, enhancing the beauty of this island. People do not live on this part of the island, so it is advisable for the tourists to go there early and come back by afternoon

সমুদ্রপৃষ্ঠ থেকে প্রায় ৩.৬ মিটার উঁচুতে অবস্থিত ৭.৩১৫ কিলোমিটার দীর্ঘ ছেড়া দ্বীপ যার জনসংখ্যা প্রায় চার হাজার। এই দ্বীপটি প্রায় পুরোটাই সমতল যেখানে শামুকের খোলসের সাথে পানির সাথে বয়ে আসা বালু মিশে থাকে। মূল দ্বীপের সাথে এখানে কিছু পৃথক ছোট চর রয়েছে যেগুলো স্থানীয়ভাবে ‘ছেড়া দ্বীপ’ অর্থাৎ পৃথক দ্বীপ নামে পরিচিত। দ্বীপের উত্তর অংশে অবস্থিত জলাধারটি না দেখলে আপনি উল্ল্যেখযোগ্য কিছু দেখা থেকে বঞ্চিত হবেন। জোয়ারের সময় এই জলাধারটি পশ্চিম উপকুলে একটি সরু চ্যানেলের মাধ্যমে সাগরের সাথে যুক্ত হয়। গবেষকরা এখানে ১৮২ প্রজাতির জীব বৈচিত্রের সন্ধান পেয়েছেন যার মধ্যে রয়েছে ৪ প্রজাতির উভচর, ১৩০ প্রজাতির পাখি, ২০ প্রজাতির স্তন্যপায়ী এবং প্রায় ৩৩,২৩৮ বছরের পুরান একটি প্রবালের ফসিল যেটি এই দ্বীপেই পাওয়া গিয়েছে। শীতকালে এই দ্বীপে প্রচুর অতিথি পাখি এসে থাকে। এতে করে দ্বীপের পারিপার্শ্বিক এবং প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য বহুগুনে বৃদ্ধি পায়।

Sonadia Island is a sanctuary for migratory birds such as petrels, snipe, shanks, lapwings, geese and ducks and other waterfowl. According to legend, a ship laden with gold sunk here centuries ago during an attack by Portuguese pirates and an island formed around the shipwreck. It is only seven kilometer from Cox's Bazar and about nine square kilometer in area.

The western side of the island is sandy and different kinds of shells are found on the beach. Off the northern part of the island, there are beds of window pane oysters.

It was once renowned for pink pearls, but more profitable commercial fishing has seen this tradition slowly fade away. During the winter, the fisherman set up camp. And dry their catches of sea fish.

বিভিন্ন অতিথি পাখি এবং জলচর পাখির একটি অভয়ারণ্য হল সোনাদিয়া দ্বীপ। এখানে আসা পাখিদের মধ্যে রয়েছেঃ পেট্রেল, স্নাইপ, শ্যাঙ্ক, তিতির এবং নানা জাতের হাঁস। কথায় আছে যে কয়েকশ বছর পূর্বে পর্তুগীজ জলদস্যুদের হামলায় এখানে একটি স্বর্ণবোঝাই জাহাজ ডুবে যায় এবং পরবর্তীতে জাহাজের ধ্বংসস্তূপকে ঘিরে একটি দ্বীপ জেগে ওঠে। প্রায় নয় বর্গ কিলোমিটার আয়তনের এই দ্বীপটি কক্সবাজার থেকে মাত্র ৭ কিলোমিটার দূরে অবস্থিত।

দ্বীপের পশ্চিম দিকটি বালুময় এবং এখানকার সৈকতে বিভিন্ন ধরনের শামুক পাওয়া যায় এবং উত্তরদিকে প্রচুর ঝিনুক পাওয়া যায়।

একসময় গোলাপি মুক্তার জন্য এই দ্বীপের খ্যাতি ছিল তবে মুনাফালোভী ব্যবসায়ীদের কারনে গোলাপি মুক্তার ঐতিহ্য বিলীন হয়ে গিয়েছে। শীতকালে এখানে জেলেরা ঘাঁটি গাড়ে এবং তাদের ধরা মাছ শুটকি বানানোর জন্য শুকাতে দেয়।

Dhal Char is an island located at the south of Bhola District in Bangladesh. It is a Union under Monpura Thana of Bhola. Dal Char is surrounded by the river Meghna. The east part of the island is decreasing day by day because of river bank erosion. The island is marked as one of the most vulnerable areas for natural disaster. The population is approximately 13000 of which 5000 are floating people and 1500 are households.
