Brief

Nilsagar is a popular historical dighi (big pond). It is located at Gorgram union about fourteen kilometer south-west of Nilphamari district proper. During the time of Raja Birat there were lot of cow farms at Gorgram union. Raja Birat dug a big pond or dighi for the cows. There many name such as Birat Dighi or Birna Dighi or Binna Dighi. After the independence of Bangladesh the Dighi was renamed as Nilsagar.

The total area of the Dighi (big pond) is 21.449 ha. The Nilsagar Dighi is encompassed by walls. The main embellished Front door of the Dighi was established by Raja Birat. Every year the banks of the Dighi are used as a village fair during the month of Baisakh. Every year lot of visitors and different type of migratory birds come here. Nilsagar is familiar as a recreation zone. A Hindu temple situated on the east bank and an abode of a Muslim saint on the west bank of the Nilsagar.

From Nilphamari you can take rickshaw, Local bus and also use boat to visit this area.

There are available bus 24 hours a day. It is easy to go Nilphamari from Dhaka. The distance between Dhaka to Nilphamari is 364 km and arrival time minimum 7 hours. These bus are available from Dhaka-

This district is beautiful enough for any traveler. But the beauty of the lake added another extra ornament. The blue water from the lake will please mind easily. Most of the main infrastructures from Madaripur town was built around the lake. The DC office, police station, and many more government buildings around the lake. The academic name of the lake is "Shokuni Lake", but local people won't be able to recognize the lake by that name. They simply know the lake as "Madaripur Lake".

This large lake has two portion separated by a fishing net. One half is using for fish cultivation. This water tank was built by few hundred years back by a Raja (a king) to ease the water crisis. But now a days this is a great entertainment place for the locals. During the afternoon, it will be hard to get an empty space around the lake. Most of the people from town used to pass some pleasing time with friends here. The sweets from the lake area are famous from Madaripur.

শকুনি লেকের সৌন্দর্য মাদারীপুর জেলার প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্যে বাড়তি মাত্রা যোগ করেছে। লেকের নীল পানি আপনাকে প্রশান্তি দেবে। ডিসিঅফিস, পুলিশ স্টেশন, এবং বিভিন্ন সরকারি স্থাপনাসহ মাদারীপুরের বেশীরভাগ স্থাপনাই এই লেকের আশেপাশে নির্মাণ করা হয়। বইপত্রে এই লেকটির নাম ‘শকুনি লেক’ হলেও স্থানীয়রা এটিকে ‘মাদারীপুর লেক’ হিসেবে চেনে। একটি মাছ ধরার জাল দিয়ে এই বিশাল লেকটিকে দুই ভাগে বিভক্ত করা হয়েছে যার একটি অংশে মাছ চাষ করা হয়। কয়েকশত বছর পূর্বে জনৈক রাজা পানির সংকট নিরসনে এই লেকটি খনন করেন। বর্তমানে এই লেকটি একটি বিনোদনকেন্দ্রে পরিনত হয়েছে। বিকালবেলা এই লেকে এতটাই জনসমাগম হয় যে এখানে কোন খালি জায়গা পাওয়া দুষ্কর হয়ে ওঠে। শহরের বেশিরভাগ মানুষ পরিবার পরিজন ও বন্ধুবান্ধব নিয়ে এখানে আসেন অবসর সময় কাটাতে। লেকের আশেপাশে সুস্বাদু মিষ্টি পাওয়া যায়। এসব মিষ্টির জন্য মাদারীপুর জেলার সুখ্যাতি রয়েছে।

Nunchhori Debota Pond (Matai Pukhiri/Goddess Pond) is a remarkable lake known as the Matai Pukhiri, 500 meters above ground level at Nunchhari in Khagrachhari District. According to a legend of the Tripura tribe, the water of this lake never dries up nor becomes dirty, which is why it is called Matai Pukhiri or the Lake of God.

নুনছড়ি দেবতা পুকুর খাগড়াছড়ি সদর উপজেলায় অবস্থিত। খাগড়াছড়ির নুনছড়িতে ভুপৃষ্ঠ থেকে ৫০০ মিটার উঁচুতে অবস্থিত নুনছড়ি দেবতা পুকুরটি মাটাই পুখুরি অথবা দেবতা পুকুর নামেও পরিচিত। আদিবাসী ত্রিপুরা গোত্রের কল্পকাহিনী অনুযায়ী এই পুকুরের পানি কখনো শুকিয়ে যায় না এবং ময়লা হয়না তাই এই পুকুরকে বলা হয় মাটাই পুখিরি অথবা দেবতা পুকুর।

Jaflong is a union situated at Bangladesh-India border. Jaflong is a landscape beauty among gardens and hills. It is situated next to the river Peain round Hill Khashia. Jaflong is famous for its stone collections and is home of the Khasi (also known as Khasia) tribe.

Jaflong is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Sylhet division. It is about 60 km from Sylhet town and takes two hours drive to reach there. Jaflong is also a scenic spot nearby amidst tea gardens and rare beauty of rolling stones from hills. It is situated besides the river Mari in the lap of Hill Khashia.

বাংলাদেশ-ভারতের সীমান্তবর্তী খাসিয়া পাহাড়ের কোলে মারি নদীর পাশে অবস্থিত পাহাড়, সবুজ বন ও বাগানের সৌন্দর্য ঘেরা একটি পাহাড়ি অঞ্চলের নাম জাফলং। হিমালয় থেকে সৃষ্ট মারি নদী এখানে প্রচুর পরিমানে পাথরখণ্ড বয়ে নিয়ে আসে।

জাফলং হল সিলেট বিভাগের একটি হিল স্টেশন এবং অন্যতম আকর্ষণীয় পর্যটন কেন্দ্র। সিলেট শহর থেকে ৬০ কিলোমিটার দূরে অবস্থিত এই পর্যটন কেন্দ্রে সড়কপথে পৌছাতে প্রায় দুই ঘণ্টা সময় লাগে। পাথর সংগ্রহ করা এবং আদিবাসী খাসিয়া সম্প্রদায়ের বসবাস এই দুটি কারনে জাফলং এর খ্যাতি রয়েছে। চা বাগান এবং পাহাড় থেকে গড়িয়ে আসা পাথরের বিরল সৌন্দর্যের দেখা মিলবে এখানে।

Bir Kamalar Dighi is situated in the Kakara Union of Chakaria Upazila. Its site was once full of archaeological relics. Mr. Abdur Rashid Siddiqui, in his research work “Rnoai Tatwa”, has made reference to a stone-inscription found on the bank of this tank. It could not be deciphered at that time. At present there is no trace of it. There is a reference of this tank in the “Rajmala”, the history of the Tippera kings. It has been described in the “Rajmala” that a tank was excavated by the Tippera army after it had attacked Roshang and penetrated up to Ramu during the reign of King Dhany Manikya of Tippera in 1513-14 A.D.

From this it can be supposed that the Tippera army had this tank excavated after the conquest of Chakria. It was named Bir Kamalar Dighi after Kamala Devi, wife of King Dhanya Manikya.
