টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওড়

Dhoronti (also spelled as Dharanti (ধরন্তি) or Dharonti) is a beautiful watery place that is a 3 hour drive from the busy Dhaka city. Around the rainy season this place is the perfect time to visit. It is located around the road between Sarail to Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria District. Both sides of the road are flooded with water. You can wash your city junk and tiredness from there by having a quick day trip.

This place is basically a picnic spot for the party lovers. So during the afternoon it gets too much crowded at the weekends. You'll find few boats beside the road for hourly based renting. Also you can ride on those with other people as a group to lower your cost but to taste the flavor.

This road is several miles long and both side of that area is packed with water. It doesn't have any houses beside the road (no space left). Neither there are trees beside the roads as well. This place is infamous for hijacking when the sun gets down. The local people will forbid you to stay there after the sunset. It doesn't matter the size of your group. They use to come with 10/15 people together to snatch things from you. So better not to wait there for the sunset. We have left this place even around at 4:30pm to avoid any odd situation.

ব্যস্ত ঢাকা শহর থেকে মাত্র তিন ঘণ্টার দূরত্বে অবস্থিত অপূর্ব এক জলাভুমির নাম ধরন্তি। বর্ষাকাল এখানে বেড়াতে আসার উপযুক্ত সময়। ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া জেলার সরাইল-নাসিরনগর সড়কে ধরন্তি অবস্থিত। এখানে আসলে দেখতে পাবেন পথের দু ধার পানিতে পূর্ণ হয়ে রয়েছে। এখানে এসে আপনি শহরের যান্ত্রিক জীবনের সকল ক্লান্তি ও অবসাদকে ধুয়ে ফেলতে পারবেন। এই স্থানটি মূলত একটি পিকনিক স্পট। তাই সাপ্তাহিক ছুটির দিন বিকালবেলা এই স্থানটিতে জনসমাগম হয়ে থাকে। ধরন্তিতে পথের পাশে নৌকা ভ্রমনের জন্য নৌকা ভাড়া পাওয়া যায়। অন্যান্যদের সাথে অল্প খরচে নৌকা ভ্রমনের স্বাদ নিতে আপনিও এসব নৌকায় চড়তে পারেন।

ধরন্তির মূল সড়কটি কয়েক মাইল দীর্ঘ যেটির দু ধার পানিতে পরিপূর্ণ থাকে তাই পথের ধারের এসব স্থানে কোনো বাসাবাড়ি, গাছপালা ও রাস্তাঘাট নেই। সূর্যাস্তের পর ছিনতাইয়ের জন্য এই স্থানের কুখ্যাতিও রয়েছে তাই স্থানীয়রা সূর্যাস্তের পর আপনাকে এখানে অবস্থান করতে নিরুৎসাহিত করবে। আপনার দলে যে কজনই থাকুক না কেন ছিনতাইকারীরা প্রায় ১০ জন থেকে ১৫ জন মিলে সংঘবদ্ধভাবে ছিনতাই করে থাকে। তাই এখান সূর্যাস্তের পর অবস্থান না করাই শ্রেয়।

Akashi Haor (আকাশী হাওড়) is a small one, but extraordinarily beautiful. The word Akashi means sky blue color and the word Haor means inundated water body that is created due to overflowing of nearby river. So combining the two words it means sky blue colored water body. And interestingly the color of the water was really bluish. The clouds from the sky easily reflect on the pristine water from the Haor.

Few places are occupied with water there. So local people usually do fishing, and probably they will continue until the area dried up totally. Most of the fishing nets are having same design and structure. Also the style of fishing is a bit different from other area as well.

আকারে ছোট হলেও আকাশী হাওড় একটি অত্যন্ত সৌন্দর্যমণ্ডিত স্থান। ‘আকাশী’ শব্দের অর্থ আকাশের নীল রঙ এবং ‘হাওড়’ অর্থ নদীর পানি উপচে পড়ার ফলে সৃষ্ট জলাভূমি। তাই এই দুটি শব্দ মিলিত করলে অর্থ দাড়ায় আকাশের নীল রঙের একটি জলাভূমি। এই হাওড়ের পানির রঙ সত্যিকার অর্থেই নীলচে। হাওড়ের স্বচ্ছ পানিতে আকাশের সাদা মেঘ খুব সহজেই প্রতিফলিত হয়ে অপরূপ দৃশ্যের সৃষ্টি করে।

এখানকার কিছু কিছু স্থান পানিতে ভরপুর থাকায় স্থানীয়রা এখানে মাছ ধরে থাকে এবং এই এলাকাটি সম্পূর্ণরুপে শুকিয়ে না যাওয়া পর্যন্ত তারা এই কার্যক্রম অব্যাহত রাখবে বলেই আশা করা যায়। এখানকার জেলেদের ব্যবহার করা মাছ ধরা জালগুলোর নকশা এবং আকার প্রায় একই ধরনের। এখানে মাছ ধরার কৌশল দেশের অন্যান্য এলাকার মাছ ধরার কৌশল থেকেও ভিন্ন।

Purakhali Baor holds a area of 78 hectors in general, where in rainy season, the size enlarges to 94 hectors. There is 2 hectors sized Sanctuary containing 22 species of natural fish, 17 species of local and foreign birds, and 9 types of Aquatic Plants. There are mainly 4 villages surrounding the Baor namely Porabali, Mothuapur, Dighirpar and Dewapar.

The main objective of this sanctuary is to increase the number of natural fish, protect and nourish the birds and aquatic plants. To make those objectives successful, this sanctuary was established in the year 2000. There are 4 fish retrieved group taking care of many species of fish.

There are also many species of tree surrounding this Baor. There are around 1500 herb, fruit and other types of trees. However, there is only one nursery.

Astagram Haor is a massive water world all around and few island like villages amid of the water. You may find few fishing boats available. Only the island like villages would be around you, nothing else. It would be the best way to explore the Haor in the rainy season from the Ostogram. For your information, six of the Upazila of Kishoreganj hold a massive Haor all together. This Haor is further extended with the Haor(হাওড়) from Netrakona, Hobiganj, and Sunamganj district. During the rainy season you can easily move from one Haor to another without interruption.

You can fix a boat for 4000 taka to visit Ostogram, then Mithamoin, and the Itna Upazila of Kishoreganj district. It would be around 8/9 hours to reach at the final destination. Which means 8:00 at night if you start at 12 pm, noon. You can hire the boat from the Kuliar Char of Kishoreganj District.

Life in a Haor is not that much easy. It is always surrounded by the water during rainy season. Its a big problem for them and they are in a predicament with this massive water. It gives them a facility to travel easily using a boat. So during the rainy season they can travel from one place to another very easily. Even local people from there use to arrange the marriage ceremony during this particular time for the better communication.

But they can not do any cultivation during this rainy period. They only depend on the fishing and no other works. All the cultivating activities are done during the dry season(locally known as late autumn), and its only once in a year. They use to cultivate for one season and use to run their family with that little amount of grains throughout the year. But during this dry season, their main transportation is walking. No other option is available. So they are confused to decide about which season is better for them. A common proverb from the Haor region is: It is very hard to find an ample amount of empty spaces from the villages (or should say islands?) of Haor.

Everything is tightly packed and very much congested. The lavatory, kitchen, house, and all the other stuffs are in the same place. Even the domestic animals are also living so closely with them. It looks beautiful from far, specially when you are sitting on a boat and traveling. But practically its too much dirty all around and they are accustomed to this.

The sewerage water from the lavatory is dropping at the water beside their house. They are having a bath on the same water beside the sewerage dropping zone. Even they are also cleaning their dishes and taking water for cooking from the same place. They can use the tube well water, but they somehow like the water from Haor(হাওর) as it is iron and arsenic free. You can enjoy their daily life works and household works from the boat easily.

After reaching at the Astagram(অষ্টগ্র্রাম), you can pay a visit to the Kutub Shah Mosque(কুতুব শাহ মসজিদ) from there. A launch service uses to run between Astagram(অষ্টগ্র্রাম) and Kuliarchor(কুলিয়ারচর). Its in every hour or subject to every two hours. Anyone can take the service from those small ships as well.

চারপাশে পানিদ্বারা পরিবেষ্টিত একটি বিশাল জলাভূমি হল অষ্টগ্রাম হাওড় যেখানে দ্বীপের মত কয়েকটি গ্রাম রয়েছে। এখানে আসলে কিছু মাছ ধরার নৌকা এবং হাওড়ে অবস্থিত গ্রামগুলোই আপনার চোখে পরবে। বর্ষাকাল এখানে বেড়াতে আসার সবচেয়ে ভাল সময়। কিশোরগঞ্জের ছয়টি উপজেলাজুড়ে রয়েছে একটি বিশাল হাওড়। অষ্টগ্রাম হাওড় নেত্রকোনা, হবিগঞ্জ এবং সুনামগঞ্জ জেলার হাওড়গুলোর সাথে সংযুক্ত হয়েছে। বর্ষাকালে কোন রকম বাধা ছাড়াই আপনি এক হাওড় থেকে অন্য হাওড়ে যেতে পারবেন।

কিশোরগঞ্জের কুলিয়ার চর থেকে ৪০০০/- টাকায় নৌকা ভাড়া করে কিশোরগঞ্জ জেলার অষ্টগ্রাম উপজেলা, মিঠামইন উপজেলা এবং ইটনা উপজেলা ঘুরে দেখতে পারবেন। সবকিছু ঘুরে দেখতে প্রায় আট থেকে নয় ঘণ্টা সময় লাগবে। হাওড়ে জীবনযাত্রা মোটেই সহজ নয়। বর্ষাকালে হাওড় সর্বদা পানি দিয়ে পরিবেষ্টিত থাকে। এই পানির কারনে হাওড়বাসির নিদারুন দুর্ভোগ পোহাতে হয়। বর্ষাকালে এসব হাওড়ের মানুষ নৌকায় করে খুব সহজেই এক স্থান থেকে অন্য স্থানে যাতায়াত করে। এমনকি নৌকার কারনে যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা সহজ হওয়ার কারনে বর্ষাকালে স্থানীয়রা বিয়ের আয়োজনও করে থাকে।

তবে বর্ষাকালে হাওড়ের মানুষদের শুধুমাত্র মাছধরার উপর নির্ভর করতে হয় কারন এ সময় কৃষিকাজ করা সম্ভব হয়ে উঠে না। বছরে শুধুমাত্র একবার শুষ্ক মৌসুমে এখানে চাষের কাজ করা হয় এবং এই চাষের মাধ্যমে প্রাপ্ত শস্যের উপর নির্ভর করে এখানকার পরিবারগুলো সারা বছর চলে থাকে। শুষ্ক মৌসুমে পায়ে হাঁটাই হল এখানে যোগাযোগের একমাত্র মধ্যম। তাই কোন মৌসুম এখানকার মানুষদের জন্য শ্রেয় তা নির্ণয় করা সত্যিকার অর্থেই কঠিন।   হাওড়ে একটি প্রবাদ প্রচলিত আছে আর তা হলঃ এখানে এক টুকরো শুকনো জায়গা খুঁজে পাওয়া খুবই কঠিন।

হাওড়ে নৌকায় করে ঘুরে বেড়ানোর সময় এখানকার গ্রামের বাড়িগুলোকে দেখতে বেশ সুন্দর দেখায়। কিন্তু কাছে গিয়ে দেখলে আপনি সম্পূর্ণ ভিন্ন চিত্র দেখতে পাবেন। এখানকার বাড়িগুলো এতটাই ছোট যে স্থান স্বল্পতার জন্য বাথরুম, রান্নাঘর, থাকার জায়গা, আসবাব ও অন্যান্য জিনিসপত্র সবকিছু প্রায় একই জায়গায় রাখা হয়েছে। এমনকি গৃহপালিত পশুরাও এখানকার মানুষদের খুব কাছেই থাকে। শৌচাগারের দুষিত পানি গ্রামের বাড়িগুলোর পাশেই হাওড়ে নিষ্কাশন হয় এবং হাওড়ের পানিতেই এখানকার অধিবাসীরা গোসল করে। এমন কি সেখানকার পানি দিয়ে বাসন ধোঁয়া হয় এবং খাওয়ার পানিও সেখান থেকে সংগ্রহ করা হয়। হাওড়বাসিদের নলকূপের পানি ব্যবহারের সুযোগ থাকলেও লৌহ পদার্থ এবং আর্সেনিক মুক্ত হওয়ায় তারা হাওড়ের পানিকেই পছন্দ করে। এক কথায় এখানকার গ্রামের বাড়িগুলো খুবই অপরিষ্কার অপরিচ্ছন্ন এবং নোংরা এবং এখানকার অধিবাসীরা এই পরিবেশের সাথেই অভ্যস্ত হয়ে গিয়েছে।  নৌকায় চড়ে আপনি হাওড়ের মানুষের জীবনযাত্রা খুব সহজেই প্রত্যক্ষ করতে পারবেন। অষ্টগ্রামে পৌঁছে আপনি কুতুবশাহী মসজিদ দেখতে যেতে পারেন। অষ্টগ্রাম ও কুলিয়ারচরের মধ্যে প্রতি এক ঘণ্টা অথবা কখনো কখনো দুই ঘণ্টায় লঞ্চ চলাচল করে।
