Brief
Once, the Tangail Porabari Chomchom was famous throughout the Indo-Pak subcontinent. The very name of Porabari Chomchom still bears the old glory of Tangail. It has an eternal appeal to all. The color of this sweet meat is as like as the color of a brick. The Porabari Chomchom is one of the world famous sweet for its extreme sweetness, uncommon taste and flavor. It is of various design and shapes. Tangail has got a special recognition in the world from the British domain for this uncontested sweetmeat.
Porabari is a village. It is situated about four kilometers west from Tangail town. Its sight is calm and quite. The village was named Porabari because the house of a sweet maker businessman was burnt (Porabari means “burnt house”). Nobody can ascertain the name of the man who first made this sweet meat. It is known that a man named Dasarat was the first sweetmeat maker in this village. The Ghosh and Pal tribes were engaged in the sweet meat industry generation after generation.
How to go
This Chomchom can be found at Pach-Ali bazaar of Porabari in Tangail District. You can reach at Tangail by bus and from there you can hire a Rickshaw to reach Halui Potti/Sweet Potti, where can find King of sweet Porabari Chomchom.
How To Reach: Tangail District
It would take approximately 1 hour and 55 minutes to go Tangail from Dhaka City, via Kaliakair and Tongi. The distance is around 84.0 km. From Mohakhali (মহাখালী) bus terminal, several buses use to run for this district. It takes around 2-3 hours to reach there. Probably the Nirala (নিরালা) is the best service. After that Jhotila (ঝটিকা), Dhaleswari(ধলেশ্বরী) can be second choice. Also, you can go there by train, but I don’t know much about locomotive services.

Passengers should to reach at bus stand at least before 10 minutes.
Passengers cannot carry illegal goods with him/her. In case of carrying illegal goods, the authority is not responsible for that.
Smoking is not allowed in bus.
If passengers come late at the bus stand and miss the bus, transport fare will not be given back to them.
