[post_content] => {:en}Boddho Vumi is located in the field of Amutto village close to Akkelpur Sadar Upazila. In 1971 22 freedom fighters lost their lives in the hands of Pakistani soldiers. As a result a memorial is built in memory of those who lost their lives.
Gono kobor is located in West Amutto Mouja of Akkelpur Upazila. Akkelpur Upazilla has significant contribution in our Liberation war.385 freedom fighters took part from here. Many people died in the Liberation war. There are 2 mass graves in West AmuttoMouja.Many people come here to show respect to the matyrs in Victory and Independence Day.{:}{:bn}
এই বধ্যভূমি ও গনকবর জয়পুরহাট জেলার আক্কেলপুর উপজেলায় অবস্থিত। বধ্যভূমিটি অবস্থিত আক্কেলপুর সদর উপজেলার নিকটবর্তী আমুত্ত গ্রামের মাঠে। ১৯৭১ সালে ২২ জন মুক্তিযোদ্ধা পাকিস্তানী বাহিনীর হাতে এখানে নিহত হন। শহীদদের স্মরণে এখানে একটি সৃতিসৌধ নির্মাণ করা হয়েছে।
গনকবরটি অবস্থিত আক্কেলপুর উপজেলার পশ্চিম আমুত্ত মৌজাতে। আমাদের স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে আক্কেলপুর উপজেলার রয়েছে বিরাট অবদান। এখান থেকে ৩৮৫ জন মুক্তিযোদ্ধা যুদ্ধে অংশ নেন। এখানকার অনেক মানুষ স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে শহীদ হন। পশ্চিম আমুত্ত মৌজাতে দুইটি গনকবর আছে। বিজয় দিবস এবং স্বাধীনতা দিবসে অনেক মানুষ এখানে আসেন শহীদদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানাতে।

Bir Sreshtho Mohammad Ruhul Amin is a great freedom fighter in the Bangladesh’s history. He is generally known as Shaheed (martyr) Engine room Artificer (an official post of Bangladesh Navy) Mohammad Ruhul Amin. “Bir Sreshtho” is the highest recognition of bravery of Bangladesh. He was killed in the Bangladesh Liberation War due to mistaken fire from the Indian Air Forces. After mistaking fire of the Indian Air Forces, he had caught by the Pakistani Razakars who killed him using their bayonets. He was really a great freedom fighter in the liberation war.
Mohammad Ruhul Amin was born in 1st February 1934 at Bagpanchra village under Sonaimuri Upazila of Noakhali district. His father was Mohammad Azhar Patwari and mother was Zulekha Khatun. He was the eldest son of the family. From his boyhood he was very obedient, courageous, dutiful and sincere. He had also a great thirst for education and Knowledge. As a result, he took up a job in a newspaper, but he did not stay there long time due to his inquisitive mind. Mohammad Ruhul Amin finished his primary education from local schools and in 1949, he passed his Matriculation Examination.
In 1951, Mohammad Ruhul Amin joined the then Pakistan Navy as a sailor. When the liberation war broke out, Mohammad Ruhul Amin was acting as Engine Room Artificier-1 in the gunboat PNS Comilla under Bakhtiar Naval Base at Chittagong. After the dark night of March 25, he left his duty and returned to his village home. There he organized the students and youths of the village for the liberation war. In May, Ruhul Amin along with nearly 500 trained soldiers joined at Sector-3 in Agartala under the Ex-Chief of Army Staff Major General Shafiullah.
In 28 September 1971, Bangladesh Navy raised with two warships “Padma” and “Polash”. At that time no Bengali officers were available and as a result, two Indian Naval officers were in charge of these two warships. Mohammad Ruhul Amin being a sailor joined in the Navy and was posted to Polash.
On 10 December 1971, Polash and Padma reached at Mongla. This time their mission was to capture Pakistani squads at Mongla port. Earlier that day, Indian Air Force fired at different places of Khulna city. When the convoy reached nearer to Mongla port, 4 Indian aircrafts flew over the convoy. But surprisingly after a few minutes those aircrafts first bombed Padma and then on to Polash. The ships were on fire.
The ship magazine of Polash stared exploding putting the safety of the ship in jeopardy. On such dangerous situation maximum crews of Polash abandoned the ship, but Ruhul Amin did not leave the ship. He said to other crews “If we cannot keep the ship floating Bangladesh Navy will not survive, the infant Navy would die forever.” So he kept on trying to extinguish the fire. The crews requested him to leave the ship but he did not. After the heavy bombing, the engine room got burned and the Polash shrunk on the river and Ruhul Amin dive into the water. When he reached the river shore, he got caught by the Razakars and they killed Mohammad Ruhul Amin using their bayonets. He died on 10 December 1971 in Khulna.
After the independence of Bangladesh in recognition of his sacrifice in the War of Liberation he was honored with the highest state insignia of “Bir Sreshtho”.

বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ইতিহাসে বীরশ্রেষ্ঠ রুহুল আমিন হলেন একজন মহান মুক্তিযোদ্ধা। তিনি সবার কাছে শহীদ ইঞ্জিন রুম আরটিফিসার (বাংলাদেশ নৌ বাহিনীর একটি পদের নাম) মোহাম্মদ রুহুল আমিন নামেই পরিচিত। সাহসীকতার স্বীকৃতস্বরূপ বাংলাদেশের সর্বচ্চ সামরিক খেতাব হল ‘বীরশ্রেষ্ঠ’। বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধ চলাকালে ভারতীয় বিমানবাহিনী ভুলক্রমে বোমা বর্ষণ করলে রুহুল আমিন শহীদ হন। ভারতীয় বিমানবাহিনীর ভুল বোমা বর্ষণের ফলে তিনি রাজাকারদের হাতে ধরা পড়েন এবং পরবর্তীতে রাজাকাররা তাঁকে বেয়নেট দিয়ে খুঁচিয়ে হত্যা করে।
১৯৩৪ সালের ১লা ফেব্রুয়ারি মোহাম্মাদ রুহুল আমিন নোয়াখালী জেলার সোনাইমুরি উপজেলার বাগপাঁচড়া গ্রামে জন্মগ্রহন করেন। তাঁর বাবার নাম ছিল মোহাম্মাদ আজহার পাটোয়ারি এবং মায়ের নাম ছিল জুলেখা খাতুন। পরিবারের সবচেয়ে বড় সন্তান রুহুল আমিন ছোটবেলা থেকেই ছিলেন অত্যন্ত অনুগত, সাহসী, কর্তব্যপরায়ণ এবং সৎ। শিক্ষা ও জ্ঞান লাভের প্রতি তাঁর ছিল তীব্র আকাঙ্ক্ষা। তাঁর কৌতূহলী মনোভাবের কারনে তিনি সংবাদপত্রের চাকরি বেশিদিন করতে পারেননি। স্থানীয় স্কুল থেকে প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা সম্পন্ন করার পর মোহাম্মদ রুহুল আমিন ১৯৪৯ সালে ম্যাট্রিকুলেশন পরীক্ষায় উত্তীর্ণ হন।
মোহাম্মদ রুহুল আমিন ১৯৫১ সালে তৎকালীন পাকিস্তান নৌবাহিনীতে একজন নাবিক হিসেবে যোগদান করেন। এরপর তিনি করাচীর কারসাজ নৌঘাঁটিতে প্রারম্ভিক এবং কারিগরি প্রশিক্ষন গ্রহন করেন। প্রয়োজনীয় প্রশিক্ষন গ্রহনের পর ১৯৬৫ সালে রুহুল আমিন আরটিফিসার-১ নামক পদে পদোন্নতি লাভ করেন এবং ১৯৬৮ সালে তাঁকে চট্টগ্রামে পাকিস্তান নৌবাহিনীর যুদ্ধ জাহাজ পিএনএস বখতিয়ারে পাঠানো হয় যেখানে তিনি স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধ আরম্ভ হওয়া পর্যন্ত দায়িত্ব পালন করেন।
স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধ আরম্ভ হলে মোহাম্মদ রুহুল আমিন চট্টগ্রামের বখতিয়ার নৌ ঘাঁটির অধীনে কুমিল্লায় অবস্থিত গানবোট পিএনএস কুমিল্লাতে ইঞ্জিন রুম আরটিফিসার-১ হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করছিলেন। ২৫শে মার্চের কালরাতের পর তিনি তাঁর কর্মস্থল ত্যাগ করে গ্রামের বাড়িতে চলে যান। সেখানে তিনি তাঁর গ্রামের ছাত্র এবং যুবকদের যুদ্ধে পাঠানোর জন্য একত্রিত করেন। মে মাসে প্রায় ৫০০ জন প্রশিক্ষিত সৈনিকের সাথে রুহুল আমিন সেক্টর কমান্ডার ও ‘এস’ ফোরসের প্রধান মেজর শফিউল্লাহর (পরবর্তীতে সেনাবাহিনী প্রধান) অধীনে আগরতলার সেক্টর-৩ এ যোগ দেন।
১৯৭১ সালের ২৮শে সেপ্টেম্বর বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীতে ‘পদ্মা’ এবং ‘পলাশ’ নামে দুটি যুদ্ধজাহাজ যোগদান করে। সেসময় কোন বাঙালি নৌবাহিনীর কর্মকর্তা না থাকায় ভারতীয় নৌবাহিনীর দুজন কর্মকর্তা এই দুটি জাহাজের দায়িত্বভার গ্রহন করেন। একজন নাবিক হিসেবে মোহাম্মদ রুহুল আমিন বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীতে যোগদান করেন এবং তাঁকে পলাশ নামক জাহাজে পাঠানো হয়।
১৯৭১ সালের ১০ই ডিসেম্বর মংলা বন্দরে পৌছায় পদ্মা ও পলাশ। এসময় এ দুটি জাহাজের মিশন ছিল মংলা বন্দরে পাকিস্তানী স্কোয়াডকে দখল করা। সেদিনের শুরুতে ভারতীয় বিমানবাহিনী খুলনা শহরের বিভিন্ন স্থানে বোমা বর্ষণ করে। মংলা বন্দরের কাছে পদ্মা ও পলাশ জাহাজ দুটো পৌছালে ৪টি ভারতীয় বিমান জাহাজ দুটোর উপর দিয়ে উড়ে যায়। তবে, একটু পরেই ভারতীয় বিমানগুলো আবারো ফিরে আসে এবং প্রথমে পদ্মা এবং তারপর পলাশের উপর বোমাবর্ষণ করে এবং ফলশ্রুতিতে জাহাজদুটোতে আগুন ধরে যায়।
পলাশের অস্ত্রাগারে আগুন ধরে যায় এবং এতে করে জাহাজটি ডুবে যাওয়ার উপক্রম হয়। এই অবস্থায় পলাশের বেশীরভাগ নাবিক জাহাজটি পরিত্যাগ করলেও রুহুল আমিন জাহাজটি ছেড়ে যাননি। তিনি অন্যান্য নাবিকদের উদ্দেশ্যে বলেন “এই জাহাজটিকে ভাসমান রাখতে না পারলে বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীকে বাঁচানো যাবে না এবং সদ্য জন্মগ্রহনকারী এই নৌবাহিনী চিরতরে মৃত্যুবরন করবে”। এসময় অন্যান্য নাবিকরা রুহুল আমিনকে জাহাজ ত্যাগ করার অনুরোধ করলেও তিনি জাহাজের আগুন নেভানোর চেষ্টা করতে থাকেন। কিন্তু ভারি বোমাবর্ষণের ফলে পলাশের ইঞ্জিন রুমে আগুন ধরে যায় এবং জাহাজটি নদীতে ডুবে গেলে রুহুল আমিন মারাত্মক আহত অবস্থায় নদীতে ঝাঁপ দেন কিন্তু সাঁতরে নদীর তীরে পৌছানোর পর রুহুল আমিনকে রাজাকারেরা ধরে ফেলে এবং বেয়নেট দিয়ে খুঁচিয়ে নির্মমভাবে হত্যা করে। ১৯৭১ সালের ১০ই ডিসেম্বর খুলনায় শহীদ হন মোহাম্মদ রুহুল আমিন।
বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন হবার পর মুক্তিযুদ্ধে সর্বচ্চ আত্মত্যাগের কারনে মোহাম্মদ রুহুল আমিনকে সর্বোচ্চ সামরিক খেতাব ‘বীরশ্রেষ্ঠ’ তে ভূষিত করা হয়।

Chittagong War Cemetery is a memorable burial place for members of the armed forces who died during 2nd world war. Bangladesh Army built it and 755 dead persons were buried there. The soldiers buried there were from United Kingdom-378, Canada-25, Australia-09, New Zealand-02, Undivided India-214, East Africa-11, West Africa-90, Burma (Now Myanmar)-02, Netherlands-01, Japan-19 and Non-soldiers-04. It is maintained by Commonwealth Grave Commission.

The exact location of the Christian Cemetery is at Wari. This is just beside the "Salahuddin Specialized Hospital, Wari". Also it’s just one minute walking distance from "Baldah Garden". This place is not publicly available for visit. Only if you have relatives are buried inside the cemetery, you are allowed to enter.
If you notice the Cemetery, you can easily distinguish two different types of architecture of the graves. One part is older one, the holy cross or the pillar beside the grave has baroque style, just like the Greek or roman style. These are older graves, around 200-300 years of old. Other part of the graves are newly build. Most of those are looks like our modern building structure.
This Cemetery is around 400 years of old. At the right side of the Cemetery, you'll find several tombs, and large stone covered graves. All of them are several hundred years of old. Many of them are almost going to ruin. One of the tomb is of Major General Hamilton Wetch of the Bengal Army, who died on the 11th June 1856. Also there is another one where lies the body of Captain Borthwn, from East India Company, who died at 1769.
Also the cemetery comprises the graves of the soldiers who are died during the "Sepoy Mutiny" at Lalbag fort, during East India Period. Most of the name plate of the tombs or graves of this parts are almost hard to read. This is an ancient place, and our country should protect this place before everything is over.
