Brief

Reju khal or Rezu khal and the bridge are situated far from the Cox’s Bazar town. It’s near to the Enani beach. When you are traveling to the Enani beach, on the way, you’ll find the bridge, and the canal. After few meters from the bridge, it just meets the vast Bay of Bengal Ocean.

The bridge over the canal was opened for people during 1995. It helped the transport facility from Cox’s Bazar to Enani beach a lot. At the canal, there are several varieties of small fish, crabs, snails, mussels are available. It’s strictly prohibited to collect or catch those.

Lalakhal is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Sylhet. Lalakhal is a wide canal located Sharee River near the Tamabil road. লালাখাল সিলেট সদরের খাদিমনগরে অবস্থিত। সিলেটের অন্যতম একটি আকর্ষণীয় পর্যটন স্পট হল লালাখাল। সারি নদীর সাথে সংযুক্ত এই প্রশস্ত খালটি তামাবিল সড়কের কাছে অবস্থিত। খুব গভীর না হলেও সিলেটে বালুর অন্যতম উৎস হল এই খালটি। এই খালটির অন্যতম আকর্ষণ হল এটির পানি কারন খালটির পানি কোথাও নীল, কোথাও বা সবুজ, আবার কোথাও বা পুরোপুরি স্বচ্ছ ।

The famous Beel Route Canal (বিল রুট ক্যানেল) is situated exactly beside Arpara Munshi Bari of Gopalganj. So after visiting the Munshi Bari, you can enjoy your time for a while at the bank of this canal. This is a straight canal that connects the river Arial Khan at Tekerhat with the river Madhumati at Gopalganj. Main beauty of the canal is the straight line like shape which lies exactly beside the Madaripur-Gopalganj highway. According to Banglapedia, this canal was initially proposed by Sir Arthur Cotton in 1958. But later on the digging process started during 1899. After having several experiments, the canal was later opened for public navigation at 1914. The depth of the canal is more or less around 140 meter on average.

The river Kumar joins with this canal and flows further together until it joins the river Madhumati. Also this canal has taken lot of small canals and wet lands in it. Most of these are from the Madaripur. That's why people also call this canal as Madaripur Beel Route. You can read more about this Beel Route Canal from the Banglapedia if you have time in hand.

There are few amazing things around that place available. One is, it’s a point where a river (some people say it’s a canal) join this Beel Route Canal and formed a shape of Y. Usual depth of the canal is very deep, but being a converging point, this place is even more deeper than the expectation. That's why this place is a perfect hideout for the native Dolphins locally known as Sushuk (শুশুক). These giant sized fishes were playing around the water by waving their back over the water surface for a short period of time. These more than evanescent things were happening frequently around us.

After crossing the canal we were waiting at the highway for any kind vehicles that would drop us to our next destination, which was Ulpur. After visiting Ulpur, we had to struggle for a public transport to come back to Tekerhat. We found one after the sunset. And it was possibly the day before the full moon. On the right side of us was a large sized moon on the sky. And on the left side of us was having this massive canal. The whole one and half an hour of journey we have accompanied by these two beautiful things together.

আড়পাড়া মুন্সীবাড়ির ঠিক পাশেই বিল রুট ক্যানেল অবস্থিত। তাই মুন্সীবাড়ি দেখার পর এই খালের পাড়ে বসে কিছু সময় অতিবাহিত করতেই পারেন। এই খালটি টেকেরহাটে আড়িয়াল খাঁ নদীকে মধুমতি নদীর সাথে সংযুক্ত করেছে। মাদারীপুর-গোপালগঞ্জ মহাসড়কের ঠিক পাশেই অবস্থিত এই খালের মূল সৌন্দর্য হল এটি সরল পথ বজায় রেখে প্রবাহিত হয়েছে।

বাংলাপিডিয়া অনুযায়ী ১৮৫৮ সালে স্যার আরথার কটন সর্বপ্রথম এই খাল খননের প্রস্তাব উপস্থাপন করেন। ১৮৯৯ সালে খননকাজ আরম্ভ হয় এবং কয়েকদফা পরীক্ষা নিরিক্ষার পর ১৯১৪ সালে খালটিকে জনসাধারণের ব্যবহারের জন্য উন্মুক্ত করা হয়। এই খালটির গভীরতা গড়ে ১৪০ মিটারের কিছু কমবেশি।

কুমার নদী এই খালের সাথে সংযুক্ত হয়ে মধুমতি নদীর সাথে মিলিত হয়েছে। মাদারীপুর জেলার বেশীরভাগ ছোট খাল ও জলাভূমি এই খালের সাথে মিলিত হয়েছে আর একারনেই স্থানীয়রা খালটিকে মাদারীপুর বিল রুট বলে থাকে। বাংলাপিডিয়াতে এই খাল সম্পর্কে আরও বিস্তারিত জানতে পারবেন।

আড়পাড়া থেকে ফেরার সময় এই খালটি নৌকা দিয়ে অতিক্রম করতে হবে। এই খালের জিপিএস অবস্থান হল (২৩°৩'৬.৮৩"উ, ৮৯°৪৮'৫৭.২৫"পু)। নদীর সাথে যে স্থানে খালটি মিলিত হয়েছে সেখানকার আকার অনেকটা ইংরেজি অক্ষর ‘ওয়াই’ এর মত। এই স্থানে খালের গভীরতা অনেক বেশি হওয়ায় এখানে শুশুক নামে পরিচিত দেশী ডলফিন বাস করে। শুশুকগুলো মাঝেমধ্যেই অল্পশময়ের জন্য পানির উপরে এসে খেলা করে থাকে।

খালটি দেখার পর আপনি টেকেরহাটে ফিরে আসার পূর্বে উলপুরে যেতে পারেন। পূর্ণিমার রাতে যদি আপনি মহাসড়ক ধরে টেকেরহাটে ফেরেন তবে একদিকে আকাশে দেখতে পাবেন পূর্ণিমার বিশাল চাঁদকে এবং অপরদিকে এই খালটিকে। চাঁদের আলো খালের স্বচ্ছ পানিতে প্রতিফলিত হয়ে এক চমৎকার মনোমুগ্ধকর দৃশ্যের সৃষ্টি করবে এতে করে কোন সন্দেহ নেই।
