Mirer Bagan Zam-E Mosque (মীরের বাগান জাম-ই মসজিদ) is one of the famous historical places of Gaibandha. It was built by renowned saint Shah Sultan Gazi. There is a saying that about 1000 years ago the mosque was built. There is also another saying that Shah Sultan Gazi had defeated Hindu Raja Kalidas and then built the Mosque for spreading Islam. Everyone feels amazing to see the inner beauty of the Mosque.

Three tombs (মাযার) are located near the Mosque. These are the tomb of Hazrat Shah Sultan Gazi,tomb of Mir Mosarraf Hossain and tomb of Ibn Shorfuddin (ইবনে শরফুদ্দিন). These three saint came here only for Spreading Islam in this region. In front of the Mosque there is a huge garden. One of the saints named Mir was the reason to call this mosque as ‘Mirer Bagan Zam-e Mosque’. Now the Mosque is conducted by a waqf estate (ওয়াকফ স্টেট). Every year in the month of Boishakh, a fair is celebrated here in Mirer Bagan.

How to go

First you have to go Gaibandha bus stand. Then you have to go Breeze Road by a Rickshaw or CNG auto rickshaw. Then you may hire another CNG auto rickshaw for going Dariapur. The distance from Breeze road to Dariapur is about 8 kilometers. Finally after reaching Dariapur you can hire a cng or rickshaw to reach Mirer Bagan Mosque. Dariapur to Mirer Bagan just 2 kilometre.

Dhaka and Gaibandha is linked by road. You can take a bus from Dhaka to reach Gaibandha district. Some of the bus services have been listed below for your assistance.

Autshahi Mughal Mosque,is a ruin of Mughal period Mosque, just located beside the Autshahi (আউটশাহী) Graveyard. It’s silently containing the evidences of ancient time. People are avoiding to visit that site frequently as it is inside the boundary of graveyard.

It has two entrances and one bulbous shaped dome on the top. Basically, from the structural remains it would be very difficult to prove how it was being used or how it became so.

Bibi Begni Mosque (বিবি বেগনীর মসজিদ) is located at the western side of the famous Shat Gombuj Mosque of Bagerhat. The department of archaeology has renovated the mosque thoroughly, but couldn't restore the vicinity area that is occupied by the local villagers these days. Bibi Begni Mosque is yet another traditional singled dome mosque from Bangladesh. The original history behind the mosque is unknown. Some people believe that Bibi Begni was one of the wives of Khan Jahan Ali, and some believe that she was a concubine (a mistress) of him. And also, they doubt whether it is really a mosque or a grave. Some scholars represent this type of edifice as a funerary mosque.

This is a single dome mosque having entrances at the three sides other than West. At the Eastern side of the mosque it has three gates, whereas the middle one is larger. And at Northern and Southern side of the wall it has single door each. These days only the door from Northern side remains open to enter inside. The dome atop of the mosque is having a regular shape of other contemporary mosques (of 15th century). The area around the mosque is occupied by the villagers and only a few portion remained around it. It is probably not a good idea to preserve antiquity in such a way. Government should free some spaces from around so that visitors can move around the mosque freely.

বাগেরহাটের বিখ্যাত ষাট গম্বুজ মসজিদের পশ্চিম দিকে বিবি বেগনীর মসজিদটি অবস্থিত। প্রত্নতত্ত্ব অধিদফতর মসজিদটির ব্যাপক মেরামতের কাজ করলেও স্থানীয়দের দখল করা মসজিদের এলাকা উদ্ধার করতে পারেনি। তারপরও বিবি বেগনীর মসজিদ বাংলাদেশের ঐতিহ্যবাহী একটি একগম্বুজ বিশিষ্ট মসজিদ। মসজিদের প্রকৃত ইতিহাস জানা না গেলেও স্থানীয়রা মনে করেন বিবি বেগনী ছিলেন খান জাহান আলীর একজন স্ত্রী আবার অনেকে মনে করেন তিনি ছিলেন খান জাহান আলীর একজন দাসী। এছাড়া এটি প্রকৃতপক্ষে একটি মসজিদ নাকি কবর এ ব্যাপারেও সন্দেহ রয়েছে। কোন কোন ইতিহাসবিদ এ জাতীয় স্থাপনাকে মাজার ভিত্তিক মসজিদ হিসেবে গণ্য করে থাকে।

একগম্বুজ বিশিষ্ট এই মসজিদের পশ্চিম দিক ব্যাতিত অন্য তিন দিকেই প্রবেশের ফটক রয়েছে। মসজিদের পূর্বদিকের তিনটি ফটকের মধ্যে মাঝেরটি বড়। এছাড়া এই মসজিদে উত্তর এবং দক্ষিন দিকের দেয়ালে একটি করে ফটক রয়েছে। তবে আজকাল শুধুমাত্র মসজিদের উত্তর দিকের ফটকটি মসজিদে প্রবেশের জন্য উন্মুক্ত রাখা হয়। বিবি বেগনীর মসজিদের গম্বুজটির আকার সমসাময়িক (১৫শ শতকের) অন্যান্য মসজিদের গম্বুজের মতই। মসজিদের আশেপাশের বেশীরভাগ এলাকাই গ্রামবাসীরা দখল করে নিয়েছে আর এভাবে মসজিদের প্রাচীনতা ধরে রাখা কঠিন। সরকারের উচিত মসজিদের আশেপাশের জায়গা দখলমুক্ত করা যাতে করে পর্যটকরা মসজিদের আশেপাশে ঘুরে বেড়াতে পারে।

Among many of the structures of Egarosindur, Sadi Mosque is one of the best-conserved monuments in the country. A pertain inscription tablet, fixed over the central mihrab, record that the mosque was built in 1062 AH (1652 AD) by one Sadi, son of Shaikh Shiroo, during the reign of Shahjahan.

Measuring 25 ft. a side, the single-domed square mosque was built on a raised piece of land. There are three arched entrances in the east, and one each in the middle of the north and the south sides. The central archway, which is larger, is set within a slightly projected rectangular frame, but the flanking archways are contained within slightly recessed rectangle. The Qibla wall is recessed with three semi-octagonal mihrabs, which correspond to the three eastern doorways. The mosque represents a happy blending of Mughal elements with the Sultanate architectural traits characteristic of Bengal.

Sadi Mosjid (সাদী মসজিদ) which is around half a kilometer apart from there, on your way by passing beside the Egarosindur (এগারোসিন্দুর) Fort (though nothing is remaining now a days). Sadi Mosque (সাদী মসজিদ) is a single domed mosque similar to the Shah Mahmud Mosque. A large dome is at the top of the mosque which almost cover the whole roof. The dome is quite large and bulbous. Also, the structure is quite difficult in nature and can easily be distinguished from others.

The mosque has decorative terracotta at the outer side and the inner side of the mosque. Sadi mosque (সাদী মসজিদ) was built by someone named Sadi (সাদী) who was the son of Shaikh Shiru (শাইখ শিরু). It was during 1652, the regime of Shahjahan (শাহজাহান).

সাদী মসজিদকে বলা যায় দেশের অন্যতম শ্রেষ্ঠ সংরক্ষিত স্থাপনার একটি। মসজিদের কেন্দ্রস্থলের মিহরাবের উপর স্থাপিত শিলালিপি থেকে জানা যায় যে ১০৬২ হিজরী (১৬৫২ সালে) সম্রাট শাহজাহানের শাসনামলে জনৈক শাইখ শিরুর পুত্র সাদী এই মসজিদটি নির্মাণ করেছিলেন।

একটি গোলাকার গম্বুজবিশিষ্ট বর্গাক্ষেত্রাকার এই মসজিদটি উঁচু জমির উপর নির্মাণ করা হয়। প্রতি বাহু ২৫ ফুট দৈর্ঘ্যর এই মসজিদটির পূর্বে তিনটি, উত্তরদিকে মাঝ বরাবর একটি এবং দক্ষিন দিকে একটি ধনুকআকারের ফটক রয়েছে। মসজিদের মাঝখানের বড় ফটকটি একটি আয়াতক্ষেত্রাকার কাঠামোর উপর নির্মাণ করা হলেও অন্যান্য ফটকগুলো সামান্য নিচু আয়াতক্ষেত্রাকার কাঠামোর উপর নির্মাণ করা হয়েছে। মসজিদের কিবলার দেয়ালে পূর্বদিকের দরজা ফটকগুলো বরাবর তিনটি অর্ধ অষ্টভুজাকার মিহরাব রয়েছে। মসজিদের নির্মাণশৈলীতে মুঘল এবং সুলতানি আমলের স্থাপত্যশৈলীর চমৎকার মিশ্রণ লক্ষ্য করা যায় আর এজন্যই অন্যান্য স্থাপত্য থেকে খুব সহজেই এই মসজিদটিকে আলাদা করা যায়। মসজিদের ভেতরে ও বাইরে টেরাকোটার কাজ রয়েছে।

Dhamrai Mosque (Dhamrai Bazar Jame Masjid) is located at Dhamrai Bazar. Dhamrai is an Upazila of Dhaka district which is beside Manikganj District. At the Dhamrai Bazar, you'll find this nicely decorated mosque.

This looks a bit old fashioned and the Minaret of the mosque is designed flamboyantly. The minaret consist of small white colored marble stones. The mosque has around 6 domes at the top of it. All of them are white colored.
