Sonar char or Sonakata is located in Barguna district, 32 km from a beach in the Bay of Bengal to the south Amatali. Sonakatara own mahima luminous beauty and amazing beaches. High-water green belts 7/8 feet of water in the bottom of the wind. This is an astounding natural scene. Safe bathing at the sea beach, sunrise and sunset from the same place in San bathasaha overview can be seen. The beach is way through the deep forests of unsurpassed natural beauty. Two of the most remote forests belong to the same beach was Nisanabariya and Sakhina.

How to go

Sona Char is located in the south of Bhola which is connected both by air and road from Dhaka, Chittagong and Barisal. You may find local buses from hotel areas in Bhola, and also rickshaw and other local vehicles are available to reach the Sona Char area.

There are bus services available at Dhaka Gabtoli and Sayedabad counters to go to Bhola. There are two routes by road. You can whether go to Bhola crossing Barisal or by passing Lakshmipur.

Things to do

Go to the beach because it’s way through the deep forests of unsurpassed natural beauty. Two of the most remote forests belong to the same beach is Nisanabariya and Sakhina and two offices in Forest bits, which can be taken in the center of the sight Echo Park.

Hatia Islands, cluster of islands situated in the Meghna estuary of the Padma River (Ganges [Ganga] River) delta, southeastern Bangladesh. The largest of these, South Hatia Island, is a low-lying land mass about 23 miles (37 km) long and 4–8 miles (6.5–13 km) wide. Only partially protected by embankments from sea incursions, it frequently is subject to cyclones and destructive ocean waves. To the north-west, another large island of the Hatia group divides the Meghna River into two arms, the Shahbazpur River to the west and the Hatia River to the east. Smaller islands of the group lie to the west of South Hatia Island in the Shahbazpur River. The larger of the Hatia Islands are connected by ferry with the mainland.

Chera Dwip is elevated at about 3.6 meter above the sea level and populated by about 4,000 inhabitants the 7.315 kilometer long island is almost flat consisting of alluvial sands mixed with shells of mollusks. In addition to the main island, there are a number of tiny islets locally known as ‘Chera dwip’, which means separated island. Visitors will miss something great if they don’t glimpse at a shallow lagoon in the northern part of the island which gets connected to the sea during high tide by a narrow channel on the western coast.

Researchers have recorded 182 species of wildlife of which 4 species are amphibians, 130 birds, 20 mammals, and a fossilized coral—33,238 years old—on this very island we can boast about. A huge number of migrated birds come to this island in winter season enhancing its beauty and holy ambiance.

Tourists can book their trip either from Chittagong or from Cox's Bazar. The surrounding coral reef of the St Martin island has an extension named CheraDwip. A small bush is there, which is the only green part of CheraDwip, enhancing the beauty of this island. People do not live on this part of the island, so it is advisable for the tourists to go there early and come back by afternoon

সমুদ্রপৃষ্ঠ থেকে প্রায় ৩.৬ মিটার উঁচুতে অবস্থিত ৭.৩১৫ কিলোমিটার দীর্ঘ ছেড়া দ্বীপ যার জনসংখ্যা প্রায় চার হাজার। এই দ্বীপটি প্রায় পুরোটাই সমতল যেখানে শামুকের খোলসের সাথে পানির সাথে বয়ে আসা বালু মিশে থাকে। মূল দ্বীপের সাথে এখানে কিছু পৃথক ছোট চর রয়েছে যেগুলো স্থানীয়ভাবে ‘ছেড়া দ্বীপ’ অর্থাৎ পৃথক দ্বীপ নামে পরিচিত। দ্বীপের উত্তর অংশে অবস্থিত জলাধারটি না দেখলে আপনি উল্ল্যেখযোগ্য কিছু দেখা থেকে বঞ্চিত হবেন। জোয়ারের সময় এই জলাধারটি পশ্চিম উপকুলে একটি সরু চ্যানেলের মাধ্যমে সাগরের সাথে যুক্ত হয়। গবেষকরা এখানে ১৮২ প্রজাতির জীব বৈচিত্রের সন্ধান পেয়েছেন যার মধ্যে রয়েছে ৪ প্রজাতির উভচর, ১৩০ প্রজাতির পাখি, ২০ প্রজাতির স্তন্যপায়ী এবং প্রায় ৩৩,২৩৮ বছরের পুরান একটি প্রবালের ফসিল যেটি এই দ্বীপেই পাওয়া গিয়েছে। শীতকালে এই দ্বীপে প্রচুর অতিথি পাখি এসে থাকে। এতে করে দ্বীপের পারিপার্শ্বিক এবং প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য বহুগুনে বৃদ্ধি পায়।

Shah of Shahpori Island stands for Muhammad Azam Shah alias Shah Suja, a son of Aurangzeb, the last Mogul Emperor of India, and Pori stands for Pori Begum, wife of Bahadur Shah alias Shah Badar, another son of Aurangzeb. In a war back in 1689 sons of Aurangzeb were defeated by the forces of Burmese King Sudurma. Bahadur Shah was killed in the battle. Arrested by the Burmese forces a few surviving members of Mogul army including Azam Shah and Pori Banu (wife of the deceased Bahadur Shah) were ordered to board a country boat with all their hands tied from behind.

Having been towed to the mouth of the Naaf River (previously Busitang River) the boat was scuttled by making holes in its bottom drowning all the captives. Azam Shah and Pori Banu who survived miraculously took shelter in this very island which at that ancient time was known as Kuanka Island. After the names of Aurangzeb’s surviving son and daughter-in-law the Kuanka Island later became popular as Shahpori Island. Shahpori Island, though still called as an island, was in fact turned into a peninsula in early 60s by artificial siltation through cross-damming.

শাহপরী দ্বীপের ‘শাহ’ নামটি এসেছে ভারতবর্ষের সর্বশেষ মুঘল সম্রাট আওরঙ্গজেবের পুত্র মুহাম্মদ আজম শাহ ওরফে শাহ সুজার নাম থেকে এবং ‘পরী’ নামটি এসেছে আওরঙ্গজেবের অপর পুত্র বাহাদুর শাহ ওরফে শাহ বদরের স্ত্রী পরী বেগমের নাম থেকে। ১৮৬৯ সালে সংঘটিত এক যুদ্ধে আওরঙ্গজেবের পুত্ররা বার্মিজ রাজা সুদুরমার কাছে পরাজিত হয় এবং সেই যুদ্ধে বাহাদুর শাহ নিহত হন। আজম শাহ এবং পরী বানুসহ মুঘল সেনাবাহিনীর কিছু বেঁচে যাওয়া সদস্যদের হাত পেছনে বেধে নৌকায় করে নাফ নদীতে (তৎকালীন বুসিটাং নদী) ছেড়ে দেওয়া হয়। সেসময় নৌকায় ফুটো করে দেওয়াতে নৌকাটি ডুবে যায় এবং সেইসাথে নৌকার সকল আরোহী পানিতে ডুবে যায়। তবে আজম শাহ এবং পরী বানু সৌভাগ্যক্রমে বেঁচে যান এবং এই দ্বীপে (সেসময় এই দ্বীপের নাম ছিল কুয়ানকা দ্বীপ) আশ্রয় গ্রহন করেন। পরবর্তীতে আওরঙ্গজেবের পুত্র এবং পুত্রবধুর নামানুসারে এই দ্বীপের নাম হয় শাহপরীর দ্বীপ। শাহপরীর দ্বীপকে ষাটের দশকে বাঁধ নির্মাণের মাধ্যমে উপত্যকায় পরিণত করা হলেও এটিকে এখনও দ্বীপ বলা হয়ে থাকে।
