Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) frequently visited and used to stay in Shilaidaha Kuthibari in connection with the administration of his Zamindari and enriched Bengali literature through his quality writing during that time. He wrote many memorable poems during his stay here. He built it as his residence/office for collecting revenue as a zamindar, from local peasants. It is now a museum under Archaeology department of Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

কি করবেন
It is a beautiful tourist attraction. It is a two-storied building although it does have a room on the roof that was the reading room and also meditation room of the poet. Anybody will be overwhelmed just seeing this room on the roof. Rabindranath himself considered this room as a sacred place where he wrote numerous poems and short stories.
You may also visit Gorai River & Bridge, Jhaudia Shahi Mosque, Christian Cemetery, Jugia Tati Para.
