Brief

Kodom Paglar Mazar is situated On Dhaka-Maowa Highway. It is formally known as “Kodom Ali Mostan er Dorgah”. Another Dorgah(দরগা) with the same name is also there in the Sirajdikhan Upazila. Second one is situated near the bank of the mighty river Padma. It is just 200 meters ahead of Ghordour (ঘোড়দৌড়) Bazar, Louhajang, Munshiganj.

The history we came to know is almost like a legend. The actual tomb of “Kodom Pagla” was near the bank of Padma river. One night, due to erosion the tomb was washed away. After that there was several replica of his tomb was made by his followers. One of them is the one we mentioned in the Louhajang area.

The unique thing about Kodom Paglar Mazar is that, he was a preacher of Islam. Though photography is prohibited in Islam still a photograph of Kodom Pagla or Kodom Mostan is still found in his dorgah in Louhojong.

How to go

From Gulistan to Maowa: Any Local Bus like Ilish(ইলিশ) or Bikrampur Paribahan can bring you to Maowa by 45 minutes. Fare 60 Taka. Then auto-rickshaw will bring you to Ghordour Bazar.

Another Way: From Gulistan to direct Ghordour Bazar : Baligaon Express, nearabout 1 hour, 70 taka fare.

How To Reach: মুন্সীগঞ্জ জেলা

There are several transport is available from Dhaka to Munshiganj. The bus services are “Nayan Paribahan”, “Dighir par Paribahan” and “Dhaka Transport”, all of the buses used to start from “Gulistan” of Dhaka. It will cost you 60-80 taka, and will require 1 hrs to 2 hrs bus journey depending upon the road traffic.

Also you can hire CNG auto rickshaw from the “Postogola”, and it will take you 250-350 to take you at Muktarpur bridge. Remember, if you are hiring CNG, make sure who will provide the toll of the bridge. For you information, the toll fee is 20 taka. So negotiate with the driver of CNG about who will provide the toll.

Where to Stay

Though the district is just beside the Dhaka, still its hard to find a suitable hotel from the district. The main reason, may be people from dhaka used to come this place for a single day trip. But anyway, if you need to stay at Munshiganj town, that case I’ll suggest you to stay at “Hotel Comfort” this one is the best from the town. Also you there is another one which is “Hotel three star international”. But the quality of the rooms of this hotel is not that much good. For both cases, it will take 100-700 taka per night depending upon the room.

Things to do

While visiting here at the Mazar (মাজার), You can taste Roshmalai (রসমালাই) in Ghordour (ঘোড়দৌড়) Bazar near Padma Resort. Per plate 50 taka.

There is a significant number of hotels and restaurants available at Louhajang & Ghordour bazar. But, they serve local cuisine and snacks.

Hazrat Sharfuddin Abu Tawama’s Tomb and Mazar is situated just eastward to the Mosque in mazar Complex, connected to the Mazar of Hazrat Ibrahim Danish Mand. Without any inscriptional evidences, local people believe that this Grave is belong to the Hazrat Sharfuddin Abu Tawama. There are six graves in a row and second one from the east is belong to Hazrat Sharfuddin. This Mazar is surrounded by a fence wall. In that brick wall there is a stone inscription had been found. On the inscription a short description is written about the time period of a Mosque situated just west to the Mazar area.

Hazrat Sheik Sharfuddin Abu Tawama hails from Bhukhara. During the year 1274-1277, he came to then Sonargaon along with his family via Delhi and Manere of Bhiar. From Maner, a 17 years old pious boy Sheik Sharf-Uddin Yahia Manery took bayet in his hand and accompanied him to Sonargaon. Hazrat Sharf-Uddin Abu Tawama got the blessing of Hazrat Ibrahim Daneshmand (RA) who induldged him in establishing a Khankha to preach Islam in the area. He established Khanka to make the same one of the high standard educational institution with the help of his diciple Hazrat Sheik Sharf-Uddin Yahia Manery, who became the celebrated mentor and teacher of the Khanka.

Hazrat Sheik Sharfuddin Abu Tawama died in the year 1300 AD and buried within the premises of Darga Bari which is at the eastern side of Mograpara.

Unfotunitly the grave of Hazrat Sheik Sharfuddin Abu Tawama (RA) does not have any shed nor the place could be said very well maintained area.

Sureswar Darbar Sharif, a Muslim Dargah founded by Hazrat Jan Sharif Shah Sureswari at Naria Upazila under Shariatpur District of Bangladesh. Oros-sharif of Sureswar Darbar is held from Magh 19 to 21 each year and attended by a large number of devotees from different parts of the country.

The first Pir of Sureswar darbar was Hazrat Jan Sharif Shah Sureswari (Mawlana Seha Sufi Syed Ahmed Ali) (1856–1919 AD), a Muslim saint and Pir. He was spiritually guided in the Marifat Tariqah of Prophet Mohammad (S) and saint according to Oaisia Tarika. After his death his dissidents were:

• Hazrat Moulana Nur Saha (R) (1893–1954 AD),
• Hazrat Saha Sufi Jalal Nuri (R) (died 1406 B.S.),
• Al-Hajj Shah Sufi Syed Tazammul Shahnuri (died 26 Falgun B.S. or 10 March 1989 AD)
• Shah Nur E Belayat Hossain (January 30, 1939 – July 10, 2001)
• Al-Hajj Shah Sufi Syed Nur-I-Akhtar Hossain Ahmadi Nuri @ Chunnu Miah Shah.

Borobagha Mazar Sharif is located in Nurpur Malanchi Village, 6 km West of Upazila Sadar. This Shrine is dedicated for Hazrat Shah Sufi Mawlana Mokarram Danismanda (R) and his few followers. Just beside this shrine, there is a relatively small tomb which is said to be popular as The Tiger’s Tomb (বাঘের কবর), which was his companion according to the locals.

There is a big Madrasa in Barabagha Mazar Sharif. Every year, around 20-25 students become Hafez-e-Quran from this madrasa. Every year, 10-day long exhibition is been celebrated during Eid-Ul-Fitr and thousands of people come here to attend and enjoy this celebration.

বড়বাঘা মাজার শরীফ তমালতলা মোড় হইতে প্রায় ৭০০ মিটার পশ্চিমে পাকা রাস্থা সংলগ্ন, রাস্থার উত্তর পার্শে অবস্থিত। এখানে উপজেলা সদরের ৬ কিঃ মিঃ পশ্চিমে নুরপুর মালঞ্চি গ্রামে হযরত শাহ মোকাররম দানেশমান্দ (রঃ) সহ তার কয়েকজন আওলিয়ার মাজার শরীফ আছে। উক্ত মাজারের পাশেই একটি অপেক্ষাকৃত ছোট কবর আছে যা তার সঙ্গী বাঘের কবর বলে জনশ্রুতি আছে। এই স্থানটিই বড়বাঘা মাজার শরীফ নামেই পরিচিত।

এখানে একটি বড় মাদ্রাসা আছে। এই মাদ্রাসা থেকে প্রতি বছর ২০/২৫ জন ছাত্র/ছাত্রী কোরআন শিক্ষায় হাফেজ হয়ে বের হয়। প্রতি বছর রোজার ঈদে ১০দিন ব্যাপি প্রদর্শনী হয় এবং লক্ষ লক্ষ মানুষ এই প্রদর্শনী উপভোগ করতে আসেন।

The Shrine of Lalon Fakir is located in Kushtia district of Khulna division close to Kushtiya Railway Station. Lalon Fakir was born in 1774 and died in 1890. The details of Lalon’s early life are debatable and not possible to verify. He had many qualities, a spiritual leader, mystic poet, reformer and composer of Baul songs.

Researchers say that, It is said by locals that Lalon was born into a Kayastha family in the Bharora village in Kushtia. The Lalon festival is held every year at the Lalon Akhra in Kushtia every year where Bauls and admirers of Lalon from different parts of the country gather. Many singers sing Bauls songs that hold audience spellbound.

{:}{:bn}খুলনা বিভাগের কুষ্টিয়া জেলার রেলস্টেশনের কাছে লালন ফকিরের আখড়া অবস্থিত। তিনি ছিলেন বহু গুনের অধিকারী। যেমনঃ তিনি ছিলেন একজন আধ্যাত্মিক নেতা, একজন জাদুকরি কবি, একজন সংস্কারক এবং বাউল গানের রচয়িতা। গবেষকরা বলেন লালন ফকির ১৭৭৪ সালে জন্ম গ্রহন করেন এবং ১৮৯০ সালে মৃত্যুবরন করেন। লালনের জীবনের প্রথম দিকের বর্ণনা নিয়ে বিতর্ক রয়েছে যা খণ্ডানো সম্ভব হয়নি। স্থানীয়রা বলেন, কুষ্টিয়ার ভারোরা গ্রামের এক কায়াস্থ পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহন করেন লালন। প্রতি বছর কুষ্টিয়ার লালনের আখড়ায় লালন উৎসব পালিত হয় যেখানে দেশের বিভিন্ন স্থান থেকে বাউল এবং লালনের ভক্তরা জড়ো হন। অনেকেই সেসময় বাউল গান গেয়ে থাকে যা শ্রোতাদের মুগ্ধ করে।{:} ) )
