Brief

Balashi Ghat (বালাসী ঘাট) is one of the most beautiful tourist spots of Gaibandha District.It stands beside the bank of Jamuna River and is not very far from Gaibandha Sadar Upazila. At the beginning of 2004, steamers were banned from this place. Although, trawlers & boats are available for traveling. It has built a connection with the southern districts of Jamalpur.

As a result of erosion, everyday many parts of this Ghat are drowning under the river. A huge crowd comes to Balashi Ghat to enjoy its stunning natural beauty.

How to go

First you have to go Gaibandha. Then just hire a CNG auto-rickshaw or Rickshaw to reach the spot. Balashi Ghat is not more than five kilometres from Gaibandha.

Dhaka and Gaibandha is linked by road. You can take a bus from Dhaka to reach Gaibandha district. Some of the bus services have been listed below for your assistance.

Boral River is the main river in Bagatipara which has divided Bagatipara Upazila in two parts. The origin of this river is from the river Padma started from the Charghat Upazila of Rajshahi district. The total length of Baral River is 120 km. It flows from Charghat of Rajshahi, and through Bagatipara, Lalpur, Baraigram, Natore Sadar of Natore district, Gurdaspur Upazila of Pabna district and joined with the Jamuna River.

Once, this river was the main means of communication. In Monsoon, this river trail is used to transport goods from one place to another, but in dry season, the water way remains useless. The water of this river is now massively used for farming in the field. Once there were many fishes available in this river. Due to the At one time there were many fish in the river. Now, as the river silted up, the fish cycle is been destroyed.

বাগাতিপাড়ার উল্লেখযোগ্য নদী হলো বড়াল নদী। বাগাতিপাড়া উপজেলাটি বড়াল নদীর মাধ্যমে দ্বিখন্ডিত হয়েছে। বড়াল নদীর উৎপত্তি পদ্মা নদীর রাজশাহী জেলার চারঘাট উপজেলা থেকে। বড়াল নদীর দৈর্ঘ্য ১২০ কিলোমিটার। এটি রাজশাহীর চারঘাট, নাটোর জেলার বাগাতিপাড়া, লালপুর, বড়াইগ্রাম, নাটোর সদর, গুরুদাসপুর হয়ে পাবনা জেলার মধ্যে দিয়ে প্রবাহিত হয়ে যমুনায় মিশে গেছে। এক সময় এ নদীই ছিল যোগাযোগের প্রধান মাধ্যম। বর্ষা মৌসুমে সীমিত আকারে নদীর মাধ্যমে একস্থান থেকে অন্যস্থানে মালামাল আনা নেয়া করা হলেও শুকনা মৌসুমে নদীতে পানি কমে যাওয়ায় যোগাযোগের অযোগ্য হয়ে পড়ে। বর্তমানে এই বড়াল নদীর পানি দ্বারা কৃষিকাজ করা হয়। এক সময় নদীতে অনেক মাছ পাওয়া যেত। এখন নদী ভরাট হয়ে যাওয়ার কারণে মাছ পাওয়া যায় না।

Tamabil is on the border front of Sylhet-Shillong road, Tamabil is surrounded by beautiful nature. It is about 55 km away from Sylhet town. The sight of mountains while traveling through the zigzag streets is an attraction for the tourists. The tide flowing from the mountains is a treat to watch for the eyes.

চমৎকার প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্যে আচ্ছাদিত তামাবিল হল সিলেট-শিলং সড়কের বাংলাদেশ অংশে অবস্থিত সীমান্ত এলাকা। সিলেট থেকে ৫৫ কিলোমিটার দূরে অবস্থিত তামাবিলে যাবার সময় অন্যতম আকর্ষণ হল আঁকাবাঁকা বিশাল পাহাড় দেখতে পাওয়া। পাহাড়ের মধ্যে দিয়ে ঝর্নার প্রবাহ দেখে আপনার দৃষ্টি জুড়িয়ে যাবে তাতে কোনই সন্দেহ নেই।

Mighty river Meghna's branch is located eastward to the Narsingdi Sadar. It is used as a river ghat to move in various directions from Narsingdi District. If someone pays a visit there at the Ghat, he/she may observe a cluster of wood made engine boats awaiting for passengers. It is a place largely of gatherings all the day long. The launch terminal is just steps away from this Ghat.

There are some attractions around the river ghat that make people wondering this place at their leisure time. Some remarkable are Ansar Camp, Saw mill (wood market), Store house of Jute (built in British period) and a rice mill belonging a large brick made platform.

Every year in a certain time a large number of people gather around this place to watch traditional boat race ( নৌকা বাইচ) in live and during the vacation of Eid people move there with their friends & family to enjoy a charming view of Meghna River Branch.

Madhumati River, distributary of the upper Padma River (Ganges [Ganga] River), flowing through southwestern Bangladesh. It leaves the Padma just north of Kushtia and flows 190 miles (306 km) southeast before turning south across the swampy Sundarbans region to empty into the Bay of Bengal. In its upper course it is called the Gorai; in its lower course it is known as the Baleswar; and its estuary mouth, which is some 9 miles (14 km) wide, is called the Haringhata. The Madhumati is one of the largest of the Padma distributaries in the southern part of the Gangetic Plain.

একাধিক জেলা দিয়ে প্রবাহিত বাংলাদেশের চমৎকার এই নদীটির পানির রঙ সবুজ। বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম ছোট জেলা মাগুরা দিয়েও এই নদীটি প্রবাহিত হয়েছে। মধুমতি নদীটি বাংলাদেশের অন্যান্য নদীগুলোর মতো কারন বর্ষা মৌসুমের শুরুতে এই নদীটি যথেষ্ট প্রসারিত থাকে যা কিনা বর্ষা মৌসুমের শেষে আরও বেড়ে যায়। নদীর একপাড় থেকে অন্য পাড়ে মানুষকে পাড় করার জন্যে একটি খেয়া ঘাট আছে। এই নদীতে ট্রলারের মত ভারি নৌযান চলাচল না করায় নদীটির পানি তেল দিয়ে দুষিত হয়নি।

অন্যান্য নদীর তীরের চেয়ে এই নদীর তীরে অবস্থিত রাস্তাটি বেশ উঁচু। এছাড়া এখানে অবস্থিত একটি বটগাছ আছে যেটির ছায়াতলে ক্লান্ত পথিক, রিকশাচালকরা বিশ্রাম নিয়ে থাকেন।
