Brief

Balashi Ghat (বালাসী ঘাট) is one of the most beautiful tourist spots of Gaibandha District.It stands beside the bank of Jamuna River and is not very far from Gaibandha Sadar Upazila. At the beginning of 2004, steamers were banned from this place. Although, trawlers & boats are available for traveling. It has built a connection with the southern districts of Jamalpur.

As a result of erosion, everyday many parts of this Ghat are drowning under the river. A huge crowd comes to Balashi Ghat to enjoy its stunning natural beauty.

How to go

First you have to go Gaibandha. Then just hire a CNG auto-rickshaw or Rickshaw to reach the spot. Balashi Ghat is not more than five kilometres from Gaibandha.

Dhaka and Gaibandha is linked by road. You can take a bus from Dhaka to reach Gaibandha district. Some of the bus services have been listed below for your assistance.

Dholai River is originated from the Cherapunji Hills (চেরাপুঞ্জি পাহাড়) of India and entered the country through the Bholagonj of Sylhet. After flowing very poorly in our country, it joined with the River Surma.

Dholai River (ধলাই নদী) is famous for the stones. People used to collect the stone from the river. I have walked at the bank of the river from Bholagonj to “dosh number point”. The river bank seems too high for me. Possibly during rainy season, the river may have lot of water with heavy current.

ধলাই নদী ভারতের চেরাপুঞ্জি পাহাড়ে উৎপত্তি হয়ে সিলেটের ভোলাগঞ্জ দিয়ে বাংলাদেশে প্রবেশ করেছে। বাংলাদেশের অভ্যন্তরে সল্প মাত্রায় প্রবাহিত হয়ে এই নদীটি সুরমা নদীর সাথে মিলিত হয়েছে।

পাথরের জন্য ধলাই নদীর খ্যাতি রয়েছে। মানুষজন একসময় এই নদী থেকে পাথর সংগ্রহ করতো। ভোলাগঞ্জ থেকে ‘দশ নং পয়েন্ট’ পর্যন্ত আপনি ধলাই নদীর পাড় ঘেঁষে হাঁটতে পারবেন। হাঁটার সময় নদীটির পাড় আপনার কাছে বেশ উঁচু মনে হতে পারে। বর্ষাকালে পানি বেড়ে যাওয়ায় ধলাই নদীর সৌন্দর্য পূর্ণমাত্রা অর্জন করে।

Tamabil is on the border front of Sylhet-Shillong road, Tamabil is surrounded by beautiful nature. It is about 55 km away from Sylhet town. The sight of mountains while traveling through the zigzag streets is an attraction for the tourists. The tide flowing from the mountains is a treat to watch for the eyes.

চমৎকার প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্যে আচ্ছাদিত তামাবিল হল সিলেট-শিলং সড়কের বাংলাদেশ অংশে অবস্থিত সীমান্ত এলাকা। সিলেট থেকে ৫৫ কিলোমিটার দূরে অবস্থিত তামাবিলে যাবার সময় অন্যতম আকর্ষণ হল আঁকাবাঁকা বিশাল পাহাড় দেখতে পাওয়া। পাহাড়ের মধ্যে দিয়ে ঝর্নার প্রবাহ দেখে আপনার দৃষ্টি জুড়িয়ে যাবে তাতে কোনই সন্দেহ নেই।

Kangsha (কংস), a river from Bangladesh (বাংলাদেশ). It has several names, Kangsha (কংস), Kangshai (কংসাই), Kangshabati (কংসবতী), etc. This flows through Mymensingh (ময়মনসিংহ) and Netrakona (নেত্রকোনা). All of the photos of this river were taken from Netrakona (নেত্রকোনা).

The river is originated from the Garo Hills (গারো পাহাড়) of India and flows as Kongsho (কংস), and later joined with the Shomeswari (সোমেশ্বরী) river at Jaria-Jhanjail (জারিয়া-ঝান্জাইল). The river kept the name Kangsha (কংস) after joining together.

Near the bridge you'll find two bazaar at either side. One is Jaria (জারিয়া), and other one is Jhanjail (ঝান্জাইল). People used to call this place as Jaria-Jhanjail (জারিয়া-ঝান্জাইল) together.
During its course the river become too narrow and before demising it has joined with another great river of Bangladesh, Shurma (সুরমা), at Sunamganj (সুনামগঞ্জ).

বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম এই নদীটির বিভিন্ন নাম রয়েছে যেমনঃ কংস, কংসাই, কংসবতী ইত্যাদি। ময়মনসিংহ এবং নেত্রকোনা জেলার মধ্যে দিয়ে এই নদীটি বয়ে গিয়েছে। ভারতের গারো পাহাড় থেকে উৎপত্তি হয়ে এই নদীটি কংস নামে বাংলাদেশে প্রবেশ করেছে এবং জারিয়াঝানজাইল নামক স্থানে সোমেশ্বরী নদীর সাথে মিলিত হয়েছে। সোমেশ্বরী নদীর সাথে মিলিত হবার পর নদীটির নাম কংসই রয়েছে।

কংস সেতুর কাছে নদীর উভয় প্রান্তে দুটি বাজার রয়েছে। একটি বাজারের নাম জারিয়া এবং অপরটির নাম ঝানজাইল। স্থানীয়রা এই জায়গাটিকে জারিয়া ঝানজাইল নামে বলে আসছে। ধীরে ধীরে নদীটির চলার পথ সরু হয়ে এসেছে এবং সুনামগঞ্জে এই নদীটি বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম নদী সুরমার সাথে মিলিত হয়েছে।

Baulai River (বওলাই নদী), it is a river near the Tanguar Haor. It’s a very calm & charming river. Both banks of the river have a series of beautiful trees which has the survival capabilities under water. In winder season, you have to Tanguar Haor through the river.

Birds like White Egret (সাদাবক), Pankouri (পানকৌরি), Common Seagull (গাংচিল), Kingfisher (মাছরাঙ্গা), are seen in the winter season. Baulai River (বওলাইনদী) is the only way for transporting for the local People. Sometimes, you’ll see no people around the river for 2-3 miles. Meghalaya hill of India is the place of origin of this river. It flowed between the Tanguar Haor and joined with Surma River afterwards.

টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওড়ের কাছে একটি শান্ত নদী হল বওলাই নদী। ভারতের মেঘালয় পাহাড় থেকে উৎপত্তি হওয়া এ নদীর দুইতীরেই কিছু সুদৃশ্য গাছ রয়েছে যেগুলো পানির নীচেই বেঁচে থাকতে সক্ষম। টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওড় দিয়ে প্রবাহিত হয়ে এই নদীটি সুরমা নদীতে মিলিত হয়েছে। শীতকালে এই নদী অতিক্রম করেই আপনাকে টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওড়ে যেতে হবে। শীতকালে এখানে নানা প্রজাতির পাখি দেখতে পাওয়া যায় যেমনঃ সাদাবক, পানকৌরি, গাংচিল, মাছরাঙ্গা ইত্যাদি। স্থানীয়দের জন্য এই নদীটি পরিবহনের একমাত্র মাধ্যম। কখনো কখনো এ নদীর ২-৩ মাইল এলাকায় কোন জনমানব দেখতে পাওয়া যায় না।
