Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University is the first and only public university established in memory of great national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam of Bangladesh. It is in a place popularly known as Battala (shade of banyan tree) at Trishal Upazilla of Mymensigh district.
The university was established by the government of Bangladesh on 1 March 2005, though the initiative was taken some years before firstly by a non-official group of socio-cultural local elites: Greater Mymensingh Cultural Forum. The university was originally conceived to be the first culture-based university in Bangladesh, but the University Act of 2006 made it a general university with a special focus on liberal arts education and activities. The academic program of the university started effective from 3 June 2007 with four departments under two faculties: the three departments of Bengali Language & Literature, English Language & Literature, and Music under the Faculty of Arts and the single Department of Computer Science and Engineering under the Faculty of Science & Engineering. Two more departments were established the next year under two new faculties: the Department of Accounting and Information Systems under the Faculty of Business Administration and the Department of Economics under the Faculty of Social Science. Two other departments were opened in the academic year 2009-2010 under two faculties: the Department of Finance and Banking under the Faculty of Business Administration and the Department of Fine Arts under the Faculty of Arts. Four additional departments were established in the academic year 2010-11 under four existing faculties, i.e., the Department of Dramatics under the Faculty of Arts, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering under the Faculty of Science & Engineering, Department of Public Administration under the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Department of Human Resource Management under the Faculty of Business Administration. Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) was established at Santosh, Tangail in 1999 with a view to provide modern and scientific knowledge through high quality education to the students. Today's MBSTU is the outcome of the dream which had been dreamt by Mawlana Bhashani long ago. The students are educated in such a way, that they would also have knowledge on life history of Mawlana Bhashani and his social & political activities, ethics. In the true spirit of interdisciplinary approach, the students would, therefore, emerge as professionals with a humane outlook towards life.
On 21 November 2002 Prof. Dr. Md. Yusuf Sharif Ahmed Khan had been appointed as the first Vice Chancellor of the university and finally MBSTU started running officially with only two departments -Information and Communication Technology (ICT) & Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) under the first faculty of the university, which is the Faculty of Computer Science & Engineering. MBSTU had started its first academic activities with a total of 83 students and 5 teachers of the CSE faculty on 25 October 2003. After about eight months of academic duration of the university, two new departments were opened - Environmental Science & Resource Management (ESRM) and Criminology & Police Science (CPS) under the second faculty of the university, which is the Faculty of Life Science.
In the 2005-2006 academic session, three more departments were opened. These newly added departments were - Textile Engineering (TE), under the Faculty of Computer Science & Engineering and Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering (BGE), Food Technology & Nutritional Science (FTNS), under the Faculty of Life Science. In the 2010-2011 academic session, four more departments were added under the two newly opened faculties - the Faculty of Business Studies and the Faculty of General Science. Hemnagar Zamindar Bari (হেমনগর জমিদার বাড়ি) is a less highlighted edifice from Bangladesh. Not that much tourists use to travel here despite of having everything to become a promising tourist attraction from Bangladesh. Only local people from around use to visit here. It was built by the prominent Hindu Zamindar (জমিদার) from Tangail (টাংগাঈল) district named Hemchandra Choudhury (হেমচন্দ্র চৌধুরী) at 1890.
The Main building at the front side has two small statues of angel at the top. That's why local people know this as Porir Dalan (পরীর দালান) which means a Palace of Angel. Main building of this Zamindar Bari (জমিদার বাড়ি) is currently using as an administrative building of Hemnagar (হেমনগর) Degree College, but the other buildings at the back side is empty right now. There it has approximately 25 rooms inside.
Front side of the building is having the best styles from the whole premise. It is highly ornate at the walls using colorful glasses. Every inches of the walls, pillars, and the archways are flourished with flowers, vines, stars, etc formed using those colorful glasses.
The Zamindar (জমিদার) was slight cruel and rude on the peasants. They were coerced to follow few rules. For example, if anyone wanted to pass this palace premise, he/she must had to continuously keep vowing and walking backwards with bare feet. Such things must have poured the heart of locals with hatred and grief. That's why the powerful Zamindar (জমিদার) had to escape from the place during the country's separation. Along with the buildings, the whole premise was having 7 massive ponds (only few are right now available). Local people say those 7 ponds are for the seven ladies (daughters and sisters of the Zamindar). Dhonbari Zamindar Bari is very near from this place.

The Islamic University of Technology (IUT) is a premier engineering institute situated at the outskirts of Dhaka City. Established in 1981, this institute first opened its freshly minted gates to students in 1988. Since then the University has enjoyed an ever growing stature, and now it stands as one of the very best in the country. Its campus is an architectural feat that blends both Islamic influences and modern inspirations. It is affectionately called “Red Heaven”, owing to the consistent reds that dye its buildings.
The Islamic University of Technology is one of Bangladesh’s only two international universities, run and funded by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). IUT utilizes a rigorous academic curriculum that seeks to mold individuals who are prepared for both their specific fields and to take on the problems of the wider world. IUT currently has five departments: Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical and Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Technical and Vocational Education.
IUT offers Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees, as well as Higher Diplomas and doctoral degrees. The quality of education offered here has earned it a glowing reputation and a high standing in Bangladeshi higher education. Along with academics, IUT stresses involvement in extracurricular fields, and its many clubs have made great strides in their short histories - IUT’s debating and photographic societies have earned nationwide acclaim. IUT offers a substantial number of yearly conventions, including the ICT Fest, Meccelaration, Essonance, Cennovation, along with conventions hosted by its clubs such as Break the Circle, IUT InterVarsity Debate, and so on.
IUT is primarily a residential university, and its red campus, complimented by encircling greens, serves as the perfect home for its multi-cultural student body, comprised of both Bangladeshi students as well as a diverse group of internationals who hail from Muslim countries all over the world. Its halls of residence offer some of the best on-campus housing in the country, and the campus is replete with its very own mosque, playing fields, various recreation centers, two cafeterias and a wonderful lake. The vibrant student life here is one that needs to be experienced first-hand, and is one of IUT’s many strong points.
IUT has advanced enormously in its relatively young existence, and its constant drive for progress and development promises great things for the future. IUT remains steadfast in its mission to provide the best engineering education in the country.
