Brief

Jora Shiv Mandir is located at the Sukulpotti area of Natore Sadar. It is assumed that this Shiv Temple was established by the adopted daughter of High Queen Rani Bhabani. In Sangskrit language, Shiv means happy/benevolent/kind/eminent. Also, as for a person’s name, it is meant as auspicious/ propitous. This temple is also known as Sree Sree Mohakali and Jora Shiv Mandir.

In the Bangla month of Falgun, the 14th lunar day’s night of dark fortnight is considered as the Shiv-night which is very auspicious for Hindu women. This temple holds the architectural beauty and history of many many years.The outer scenario and design can easily depict the expert artistical work and the inclination of hte then architects. every year, Hindu community celebrate very gorgeous Durga Puja in this temple.

After reaching at Natore Sadar, take rickshaw and go to Sukulpotti. You can find that temple just before the Government Mohila College. Also, you can ask anyone for the direction.

Tarekeshwar Shiv Mandir is located in Natore Rajbari, near to small palace building (ছোট তরফ). This temple is as popularly known as Tarekeshwar Shiv Mandir, but the established name is Sree Sree Baba Tarekeshwar Shiv Mandir. Although this temple was established by Tara Sundari, daughter of Ordhorongeshwari Moharani Bhabani (অরধরঙ্গেশ্বরী মহারানী ভবানী); This old temple represents the ancient Indian architecture of the then King Shivnath Roy, the second son of the Great King Ram Krishno. Everyday many people come here to observe this ancient architecture. Also, people of Hindu religion come here to vow and worship to their god, Lord Shiva and offer deity.

Not only the Shiv Temple, there is also a structure of Snake with five heads named Ponchonag, statue of Lord Hanuman, and statue of Lord Shiv and Sree Krishna. People also worship before these structures to fulfill their desire. There is pond named Tarekeshwari just beside the temple, named after the temple.

Kodla Math Temple was built by a Brahman in the 17th century, but is not standing the test of time very well. It's near a village named Ayodhya, about 10 km or so north of Bagerhat. This is a Hindu Moth (though it doesn't look like a regular Hindu temple) locally known as Kodla Moth as it is located at the village Kodola. It has another name, which is Ojodhdhar Moth. May be the correct spelling can be Ayodhyar Moth. It is a tall structure that has a square shaped base. Approximate height of the Moth is slightly above the 18 meters.

It has three gates at the three sides. Outer wall is totally covered with the burnt soils (or bricks) and designed as horizontal parallel lines. Each of such horizontal lines are having a foot distance in between and those are found from top to the bottom of the structure. I have found 2/3 very small terracotta on the outer side of the walls. One was probably a shape of an elephant.

It is totally unknown these days about the builder of this Moth. It had a nearly destroyed inscription around it whose meaning is still unsolved these days. Scholar people are guessing this as an edifice of 16th or 17th century.

I shall save you.” Baba Loknath was born on 31 August 1730 (Bengali calendar 18th Bhadra, 1137) on the sacred day of Krishna Janmashtami in in the village of Chaurasi Chakla, named as Kochua, few miles far from Kolkata, North 24 Parganas, now in West Bengal, India. He is from a Brahmin family. His father name was Sri Ramnarayan Ghoshal and mother name was Shrimatee Kamaladevi. He has lot of followers and devotees around the world. He has traveled many pilgrimages on foot of Persia, Arabia, Israel and Mecca. They believe at the age of 160, on June 1, 1890 C.E. Baba Loknath took his Samadhi (Left his life means died). Temple of Sree Chaitannya Dev is 500 years old. The temple is very famous and an attractive tourist spot for people residing in Golapganj. The place is admired for being the forefather’s home of the famous Vaishnava saint.

A fair is organized on full moon day of Falgun here. The fair is organized once every year and many Hindus from home and abroad gather here to attend the fair.
