Brief

It is a Centurion Cinema Hall from the Old Dhaka. Azad Cinema Hall was formerly known as Mukul Cinema Hall. This hall showed Calcutta Bengali movies and among them Suchitra-Uttam’s ‘Shilpi’ and ‘Pathe Holo Deri’ glorified love to the endearment of the values of the time. At old Dhaka, that time this hall has played predominant role for the entertainment for the localities.

In 1931, The Last Kiss was released in Mukul (now Azad) cinema hall. Distinguished historian Dr. Ramesh Chandra Majumdar, Professor of Dhaka University, inaugurated the premier show of the film.
