Brief
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (বাংলাদেশ প্রকৌশল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়), commonly known as BUET (বুয়েট), is a Public Engineering University in Bangladesh. It is the oldest Engineering institution in the region.
In this institution, every year around 1000 students get enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs to study engineering, architecture, and planning. In undergraduate admission test, only about top 17% students can get admitted among 8,000 selected candidates. The total number of teachers are about 500. The University has continued to expand over the last three decades. This includes the construction of new academic buildings, auditorium complex, halls of residence.
“Dhaka Survey School” was established in 1876 as a survey school at Nalgola, in Old Dhaka to train surveyors for the then Government of Bengal of Hindustan. Later, generous grants from Nawab Ahsanullah, a renowned Muslim patron of education and member of the Nawab family of Dhaka, enabled it to expand as a full-fledged engineering school. In recognition of this contribution, the school was renamed to “Ahsanullah School of Engineering”. It offered three-year diploma courses in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. It was moved to its present premises in 1912.
After the partition of India in 1947, it was upgraded to “Ahsanullah Engineering College”, as a Faculty of Engineering under the University of Dhaka, offering four-year bachelor’s course in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical and Metallurgical engineering.
In 1962, it was renamed as East Pakistan University of Engineering and Technology (EPUET). A partnership with the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas (renamed Texas A&M University in 1963) was forged, and professors from A&M came to teach and to formulate the curriculum. During this period, EPUET offered courses in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Metallurgical, Chemical engineering and Architecture. After the liberation war of 1971, Bangladesh became independent, and EPUET was renamed to Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
Several more departments to offer graduate and undergraduate courses in different subjects- Water Resources Engineering, Naval architecture & Marine engineering, Industrial & Production Engineering, Petroleum & Mineral Resources Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Glass and Ceramic Engineering- were included in the university at different times. In 2007, BUET celebrated 60 years (1947-2007) of engineering education in Bangladesh by arranging a 6 month long series of programs and events.

Rajendra Government University College is not far away from the main town. This college was established at 1918. Initially it was listed by the government. But later on 1968 it was listed by government. This is the oldest college from the town. Our famous poet "Jasim uddin" was a student of this institution, also he was working with the University of Kolkata from here for research purpose.
When entered inside the college premise, you have found an abandoned building. It was an academic building when this college was build. But accruing with the time, now some new buildings are raised up, and we don't need the old one. Inside the college building, the pillars from the corridor are really eye catching. The round pillars are ornate at the top, and it seems the mixture some British and Muslim culture.

Khulna University (খুলনা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a public university in Bangladesh. It is situated at Gollamari, Khulna, by the river Moyur, beside the Khulna-Satkhira highway. The academic programs of Khulna University started on 31 August 1991 with only 80 students in four disciplines. Khulna University has 22 disciplines under five schools and one institute. It is the only university in Bangladesh where student politics is not allowed. There is also no session jam which has created a stable facility of study.
Students passing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination are very much interested in their admission in Khulna University for this politics-free, session-jam free environment. Khulna is an administrative Division as well as the third largest metropolitan city in Bangladesh. The Mongla Sea Port, the Shipyard, the Bangladesh Naval Base are in Khulna. The Islamic University of Technology (IUT) is a premier engineering institute situated at the outskirts of Dhaka City. Established in 1981, this institute first opened its freshly minted gates to students in 1988. Since then the University has enjoyed an ever growing stature, and now it stands as one of the very best in the country. Its campus is an architectural feat that blends both Islamic influences and modern inspirations. It is affectionately called “Red Heaven”, owing to the consistent reds that dye its buildings.
The Islamic University of Technology is one of Bangladesh’s only two international universities, run and funded by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). IUT utilizes a rigorous academic curriculum that seeks to mold individuals who are prepared for both their specific fields and to take on the problems of the wider world. IUT currently has five departments: Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical and Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Technical and Vocational Education.
IUT offers Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees, as well as Higher Diplomas and doctoral degrees. The quality of education offered here has earned it a glowing reputation and a high standing in Bangladeshi higher education. Along with academics, IUT stresses involvement in extracurricular fields, and its many clubs have made great strides in their short histories - IUT’s debating and photographic societies have earned nationwide acclaim. IUT offers a substantial number of yearly conventions, including the ICT Fest, Meccelaration, Essonance, Cennovation, along with conventions hosted by its clubs such as Break the Circle, IUT InterVarsity Debate, and so on.
IUT is primarily a residential university, and its red campus, complimented by encircling greens, serves as the perfect home for its multi-cultural student body, comprised of both Bangladeshi students as well as a diverse group of internationals who hail from Muslim countries all over the world. Its halls of residence offer some of the best on-campus housing in the country, and the campus is replete with its very own mosque, playing fields, various recreation centers, two cafeterias and a wonderful lake. The vibrant student life here is one that needs to be experienced first-hand, and is one of IUT’s many strong points.
IUT has advanced enormously in its relatively young existence, and its constant drive for progress and development promises great things for the future. IUT remains steadfast in its mission to provide the best engineering education in the country.
