Nilachal is a beautiful tourist place to Meghla Parjatan Complex, also known as tiger hill. It is maintained by district administration. Nilachal is special for spectacular view from the hill apex and taking photos.It is the nearest tourist spot from Bandarban, situated at Tiger para. It stands 2000 feet above sea level and 5 kilometer away from the Bandarban town. Total glance of Bandarban town and a vast photographic hillside can be seen from here.

How to go

Nilachal is just 5 kilometers away from Bandarban town. So you can hire a shared or private jeep (known as Chander Gari) or CNG auto rickshaw to go there.

There are no direct flight services available from Dhaka to Bandarban. However, you can travel to Chittagong by air and then take a bus or private car to reach Bandarban. Bangladesh Biman, United Airways, Regent Airways and Novo Air, all provide flight services to Chittagong.

Things to do

You can watch golden sunset in the evening and also enjoy evergreen moonlight at night. It is foggy in the morning during the whole winter season. On the way to Nilachal, you can see some tribe villagers with their raw natural expression.

Tahjingdong is believed to be the tallest mountain of Bangladesh. According to the local tribal language Tahjing means Great & Dong means Hill and thus the name Tahjingdong or Great Hill. The highest peak of this mountain is around 4,300 ft. above sea level. Thousands of tourist gather each year in Ruma Upazila to recompense a stopover of Tahjingdong. There are several different Tribal communities living on the areas surrounding the mountains whose unique cultures and living styles revolve around nature and the simple way of life.

Once upon a time, the journey to Tahjingdong was thought to be a tough and a difficult one to make, but today a lot of tourists take part in this journey for the sake of adventure and its amazing beauty. The scenic beauty of this place is not just restricted to the mountain and is spread far and wide all along the way to Tahjingdong. However, for the duration of the rainy season it’s a real hardship to climb it. Also, particularly in the winter season, lots of tourists endeavor to conquer it on foot as an adventure. At present one, can reach close to the Keokradong by Chander Gari (Jeep) which when translated to English means 'The Moon Car'. The remaining path has to be accomplished on foot. For those having experience in trekking, will find it quite an easy journey to make and for those who do not, it might be a little difficult at first but the surrounding heavenly scenery along with the fresh clean air of the mountain side will certainly make it a truly enjoyable experience that one would not forget easily. And finally, let us not forget the view from the top, standing among the clouds and looking over at the world stretching below you, paradise on earth.

বাংলাদেশের সর্বচ্চ পাহাড়ের নাম তাজিংডং। স্থানীয় ভাষায় তাজিং অর্থ বিশাল এবং ডং অর্থ পাহাড় একত্রে যার অর্থ দাড়ায় বিশাল পাহাড়। সমুদ্রপৃষ্ঠ থেকে প্রায় ৪,৩০০ ফুট উঁচুতে অবস্থিত এই পাহাড়ে হাজার হাজার পর্যটক বেড়াতে এসে থাকেন। এখানে তাজিংডং ছাড়াও রয়েছে বিভিন্ন আদিবাসী সম্প্রদায় যাদের সংস্কৃতি এবং জীবন বৈচিত্র্য প্রকৃতির সাথে সম্পৃক্ত। একসময় তাজিংডং এ পৌঁছানো দুরুহ হলেও বর্তমানে প্রচুর পর্যটক প্রকৃতির সৌন্দর্য উপভোগের জন্য এখানে এসে থাকেন। শুধু তাজিংডং এ নয় প্রকৃতির সৌন্দর্য ছড়িয়ে আছে এর আশেপাশেও। বর্ষাকালে এখানকার সৌন্দর্য পুরোপুরি উপভোগ করা যায় না। তবে, শীতকালে অনেক পর্যটক এখানকার সৌন্দর্য উপভোগ করতে পায়ে হেঁটে এসে থাকেন। তবে, বর্তমানে চান্দের গাড়িতে করে আপনি তাজিংডং এর কাছাকাছি পৌছাতে পারবেন। তবে, বাকি পথ আপনাকে পায়ে হেঁটে অতিক্রম করতে হবে। শীতকালে এখানে আসলে আপনাকে গরম কাপড় পরিধান করতে হবে। তাজিংডং এ পৌঁছানোর পথে হাঁটার অনন্য অভিজ্ঞতা আপনার মনে থাকবে বহুদিন।

Near to the Sahasradhara falls, according to the local people, there is another spot named "Hatir Pahar" or “The Mountain of elephant”. Actually it’s a mountain at far side, which looks like an elephant that is why local people have given such a name.
