Tanguar haor (Bengali: টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওর), (also called Tangua haor), located in the Dharmapasha and Tahirpur upazilas of Sunamganj District in Bangladesh, is a unique wetland ecosystem of national importance and has come into international focus. The area of Tanguar haor including 46 villages within the haor is about 100 km2 of which 2,802.36 ha2 is wetland. It is the source of livelihood for more than 40,000 people. The Government of Bangladesh declared Tanguar haor as an Ecologically Critical Area in 1999 considering its critical condition as a result of overexploitation of its natural resources. In 2000, the hoar basin was declared a Ramsar site - wetland of international importance. With this declaration, the Government is committed to preserve its natural resources and has taken several steps for protection of this wetland.

Tanguar haor plays an important role in fish production as it functions as a 'mother fishery' for the country. Every winter the haor is home to about 200 types of migratory birds. The haor is an important source of fish. In 1999-2000, the government earned 7,073,184 takas as revenue just from fisheries of the haor. There are more than 140 species of fresh water fish in the haor. The more predominant among them are: ayir, gang magur, baim, tara, gutum, gulsha, tengra, titna, garia, beti, kakia etc. Hijal, karach, gulli, balua, ban tulsi, nalkhagra and other freshwater wetland trees are in this haor.

Plant species like Hizol (Barringtonia acutangula), Clematis cadmia, Crataeva nurvala, Euryale ferox, Nelumbo nucifera, Ottelia alismoides, Oxystelma secamone var. secamone, Pongamia pinnata, Rosa clinophylla, and Typha species are threatened, rapidly disappearing and becoming rare.
{:}{:bn}টাঙ্গুয়া হাওড় নামে পরিচিত টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওড় এদেশের অন্যতম জলাভূমি যেটি আন্তর্জাতিকভাবেও বহুলভাবে সমাদৃত। প্রায় ৪৬টি গ্রামসহ গঠিত এই হাওড়ের আয়তন প্রায় ১০০ কিলোমিটার যার মধ্যে ২৮০২.৩৬ হেক্টর এলাকা হল জলাভূমি। প্রায় ৪০০০০ মানুষ এই হাওড়ের ওপর জীবিকা নির্বাহ করে। এখানকার প্রাকৃতিক সম্পদের মাত্রাতিরিক্ত ব্যবহারের কারনে সৃষ্ট নাজুক অবস্থার দরুন বাংলাদেশ সরকার ১৯৯৯ সালে টাঙ্গুয়ারহাওড়কে পরিবেশগত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ এলাকা হিসেবে ঘোষণা করে। ২০০০ সালে এই হাওড়কে রামসার সাইট অর্থাৎ আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থান হিসেবে ঘোষণা করা হয়। এই ঘোষণার কারনে সরকার এই হাওড়ের প্রাকৃতিক সম্পদ রক্ষা করতে বাধ্য থাকবে এবং সরকার এই মর্মে ইতিমধ্যেই কিছু পদক্ষেপ গ্রহন করেছে।
মাছের অন্যতম উৎস হওয়ার কারনে এদেশের মাছ চাষের ক্ষেত্রে এই হাওড়টি অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভুমিকা পালন করে চলেছে। ১৯৯৯-২০০০ সালে এই হাওড় থেকে মাছ চাষ বাবদ সরকার প্রায় ৭,০৭৩,১৮৪ টাকা রাজস্ব আদায় করে। এই হাওড়ে প্রায় ১৪০ প্রজাতির অধিক মিঠা পানির মাছ পাওয়া যায় যেগুলোর মধ্যে আছেঃ আয়ের মাছ, গাং মাগুর মাছ, বাইম মাছ, তারা মাছ, গুতুম মাছ, গুলশা মাছ, ট্যাংরা মাছ, টিটনা মাছ, গড়িয়া মাছ, বেটি মাছ, কাকিয়া মাছ ইত্যাদি। প্রতি বছর শীত মৌসুমে প্রায় ২০০ প্রজাতির অতিথি পাখি এই হাওড়ে এসে থাকে। এই জলাভূমিতে বিভিন্ন প্রকার মিঠা পানির উদ্ভিদও জন্মে থাকে যেমনঃ হিজল গাছ, করছ গাছ, গুল্লি গাছ, বালুয়া গাছ, বন তুলশি গাছ, নলখাগড়া গাছ ইত্যাদি।
এখানকার বেশ কিছু উদ্ভিদ বিলুপ্ত হওয়ার পথে রয়েছে যেমনঃ হিজল (ব্যারিংটোনিয়া একুটেংগুলা), ক্লেমাটিস ক্যডমিয়া, ক্রাটাভা নুরভালা, ইউরাইল ফেরক্স, নেলুম্ব নুসিফেরা, অট্টেলিয়া আলিস মইডস, অক্সিস্তেল্মা সেকামনভার, সেকামন, পঙ্গামিয়া পিনাটটা, রসা ক্লিনফাইলা, টাইফা ইত্যাদি।{:}

Richhang is another natural waterfall and one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Khagrachhari District of Bangladesh. Not so wide and not as great as Jadepai or Nafakhum, but this beautiful waterfall successfully surprised the domestic and foreign travelers with its intrinsic natural beauty.

Chandranath hill is the right place for those who likes Climbing. The small hill group of Chandranath starts from Bichkunda. On the way to Chandranath hill you will see some of the religious places of Hindus religion. This area is full of various kinds of trees, flora and fauna. Here you can see the gardens of Guava, Mango, Betel-nut etc. Here has some tribe people called Tipra and a tribe village. It is easy to climb up by the hilly way and climb down by the stairs way. The hills are looking very glamorous at rainy season, because of rain fall the trees and hills looks very fresh. But it is very dangerous to climb up the hill at rainy season.

There are lots of marvelous natural and man-made objects to enjoy near the bank of Karnafuli River in the port city Chittagong. If you visit the Karnafuli River, there is a restaurant called Zoom, just beside the Chittagong-Kaptai road. This restaurant is monitored and managed by BDR. It’s a nice picnic spot. A lot of students from Rangamati go there as a study tour.
From the spot, you can enjoy the panoramic view over the river Karnafuli. This river is flowing nicely, always full with water, whether its dry season or rainy. Both side of the river has small Mountains, and which is rich with various kinds of deciduous trees. If you visit there in the dry season, you may find most of the trees having no leaves. Its different kinds of beauty. No sign of life, but it’s still wonderful to enjoy.
There are several boats at the river, you can have a boat ride using them. Those are a bit costly, but you know you have to spend some money when you want to enjoy that kind of such beauty.
