Brief

Bhawal Estate was a large zamindari estate in Bengal in modern-day Bangladesh. The area under the estate currently falls under the Gazipur District. The most famous capital of the Bhawal Estate was Choira Meah Bari, where zamindar Fazal Gazi lived. He was one of the Baro-Bhuyans (12th zamindars of Bengal).

Before the Mughal conquest, Bhawal Estate belonged to Gazis of Bhawal. The first known Gazi was Fazal Gazi, who lent a cannon to Sher Shah Suri with ‘Az Fazal Gazi’ inscribed on it. The Rajas of Bhawal came from the village of Bajrayogini under Munshiganj. His family ruled Bhawal until the abolition of the zamindari system in 1951 at Choira Meah Bari, which was the capital of Bhawal.

Dhaka-Tongi diversion road has connected Gazipur with Dhaka , and also Tongi – Kaligonj diversion road. There are 7 railway stations in the Gazipur district. They are: Rajendrapur, Sripur, Dhirasrom, Joydevpur, Tongi, satkhamair and Pubail.

Gazipur Town is connected through the City Bus. Pubail has city service Mohakhali to Narshingdi; called PPL(Pubail Paribahan Ltd.). And Dhaka to Kaligonj; this name is KTL, Adshy and other bus.

Train is also available from Komlapur railway station dhaka to Gazipur. Gazipur is an industrial area of Bangladesh. There are 7 railway stations in the Gazipur district. From Mohakhali any bus to go Gazipur bus stand (you can use CNG or Taxi also).

R N Saha House is located at Nawabganj, which is now owned by a local businessman, under renovation. This house is situated just beside the river Isamati. The name of the house is named after a rich Merchant named Radha Nath Saha. It is believed that, this place will be turned into a tourist attractive spot very soon.

Sree Dulal Chandra Saha owned this palatial house, informed that the house was built in the middle of 1825 to 1850 at the time of Late Nagendra Chandra Saha (a Merchant).This house was built by Nabo Kumar Saha, father of Nagendra Kumar Saha. This family was a Merchant Family, Trading was their main business. They have established more business center in Kolkata, Madangonj, Barisal, Serpur and Murshidabad.

The merchants of this Palatial house once maintained family relation with many elite Zamindar familys of undivided India, i.e Baliaty, Nagarpur, Chadda rashi, Vaggo kul and Mr.R.P.Saha.

Kansat is an ancient village in Shibganj. The ancestors of the Zamider used to stay in a village called Koroi Jhakoir. Dossu sardar due to torture of Pandits moved to Muktogacha in Myemensingh. Later on they moved to Kansat. It is said that previously the king had a house known as Kongsohatta. From this area is known as Kansat.

Kakina Zamindar Bari is situated about 30 km distance from Lalmonirhat district in Kakina Union at Kakina moujai. Maharaja Mod Narayan's time Kakina was a Chakla of kocabihar. Indra Narayana Chakraborty was then the cakaladara of kakina. In 1687 the Fouzdar Ebadat khan declared war against King Mod Narayan and went to koachbihar and that time two sons of Raghu Ram Raghabendo Narayan and Ram Narayan took the support of the Fouzdar. After being filed in this war of Moghals Endra Narayan was removed from the post of Chakladar and Raghabendra Narayan was elected for Porgona 62 and Ram Narayan was elected for Kakina. As this the Chakladari of Indra Narayan Chakrawarti was finished. In 1687 that estate started in time of Ram Narayan finished in the period of Mahendra Ranjon for his unforeseen costs. When he failed to back the revenue of government his estate was sold in auction in 1925 and go under court of words. After that he left Kakina as a destitute state. He breathe last in Karsiang. Hussaini Dalan (হোসেনী দালান), some people pronounce as Hosaini Dalan, is another edifice from Dhaka. This is located beside the Nazimuddin Road of Old Dhaka. It is believed as a Shia Shrine, and was built during 17th century. There is a pond in front of the building.

It was built by Syed Murad during the governorship of Shah Shuja to commemorate the martyrdom of Al-Hussain, the grandson of our holly prophet Muhammad. Shah Shuja was a Sunni Muslim, but he had a predilection for Shia and patronized several such institutions.

This building has gone through several renovation and none of its antiquity left for the visitors. People only used to visit this place for its historical value. During the British period it was repaired heavily at 1807 and 1810. Also during the massive earthquake of 1897 caused a severe damage over this edifice. Now a days it just looks like a modern day's building covering with rich tiles with heavy ornate. The Photograph was taken by Fritz Kapp in 1904 with a view of the Imambara Hussaini Dalan in Dacca (now Dhaka), overlooking the tank.

During the first 10 days of Muharram, Shia people used to gather at this place to mourn for Al-Hussain. Though it’s a festival of Shia people, but local Sunni people used to join with them and bemoan with them. This ends at the day of Ashura.
