Brief

Alta Dighi is located approximately 56km away from Zilla Sadar. Its length is 1113 meters, breadth 42.81 meters and volume of 42.81 meters. It is a very attractive spot for the tourists. This is situated exactly near at the India-Bangladesh border at the North Bengal. There is a beautiful forest near the dighi.

How to go

After reaching at Naogaon, take local buses to reach that place.

How To Reach: Naogaon District

Buses can be used to get between major towns, or else rickshaws for small distances. There are two major Bus Stand/ Stop in Naogaon District. The First but small one is “Dhaka Bus Stand” , where usually you will get buses to go to Dhaka, Bogra, Sylhet and Chittagong mainly. The other one is “Baludangga Bus Stand” situated almost at the end of the Naogaon Municipality. At “Baludangga” Bus Stand, you can get buses to travel to Paharpur, and other Sub-division of Naogaon District, such Sapahar, Nazipur, badalgachi etc.

The other most convenient options is the “Bangladesh Railway”, from “Santahar” Railway Station. You can find numerous trains from “Santahar” to various district in Northern & Southern Bangladesh. Using First class ticket is a very convenient way for foreign Tourists, to be safe and pleasant journey, and price is also very reasonable in fact Bangladesh Railway is cheap.

There are plenty more services almost similar, but air conditioned services give a little deluxe flavor.

There are a number of luxurious intercity services between Dhaka and Naogaon each day. Railway station in Naogoan is “Santahar Junction”, which is situated at the end of Bogra. However it costs just TK 15-20 to reach Naogaon by rickshaw or CNG-powered auto rickshaw.

From Dhaka to Santahar, Naogaon Intercity trains from BimanBandar: Except “Nilsagar” all the train can be embarked on from “Kamlapur Junction Station, Dhaka” as well. Just add around 35-40 mins prior to the time given for Bimanbandor (Bengali of Airport) time.

Aachranga Dighi has an overall area of 25.5 acres. This Dighi was excavated 120 years ago and it is 100 feet in length and 1070 feet wide. It is said that a guy named Monuvut of Raj dynasty excavated this Dighi. This Dighi was excavated again in 1992. 12 statues were found while digging this Dighi which are preserved in different museums. There are many trees present surrounding the Dighi. The surrounding environment is very pleasant. It is visited my many tourist every year.

আচরাঙ্গা দীঘির সর্বমোট আয়তন ২৫.৫ একর। ১০০ ফুট লম্বা এবং ১০৭০ ফুট প্রশস্ত এই দিঘীটি ১২০ বছর আগে খনন করা হয়। বলা হয় রাজ বংশের মনুভুত নামক এক ব্যাক্তি এই দিঘীটি খনন করেন। ১৯৯২ সালে দিঘীটি পুনঃখনন করা হয়। সেবার খননের সময় ১২টি মূর্তি উদ্ধার করা হয় যেসব বিভিন্ন জাদুঘরে সংরক্ষিত আছে। এই দিঘিকে ঘিরে চারপাশে প্রচুর গাছপালা আছে। দিঘীটির চারপাশের পরিবেশ খুবই মনোরম। প্রতি বছর প্রচুর পর্যটক দিঘীটি দেখতে আসে।

Harishchondro dighi (হরিশ চন্দ্র দিঘী) was made/built by the legendary king Harishchondro for the inhabitants of Rampal Village. It is believed that the water level of this pond remained low along the year but it gets high dramatically during the full moon especially once in a year in the Winter Season. A fair is held here around the place annually. For the local Hindu people, this pond was a sacred place. Hindu's made some rituals near this pond to set marriage of their unmarried daughters. Now this lake is used by the common people.

Limestone Lake of Tekerghat is located near the Tanguar Haor, so close to Indian border. Once upon a time there was a limestone quarry, but now-a-days that one is not functioning. The Tekerghat Limestone Lake (টেকেরঘাট চুনাপাথরের লেক) is minimum 18 kilometers north from the Tahirpur town.

The water of the lake is clear. You might the water of the lake would be blue. But still the water isn’t bad. This lake was created by quarrying the limestone. Exactly other side of the lake is India. People from India usually take their bath at that side. Hill of that side has large boulders of limestone, but all belongs to India.

There are few small Tila (টিলা) available in Bangladesh side, possibly 20 ft. height and artificial. You can pass few minutes on those if you like.

{:}{:bn}টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওড়ের কাছে ভারত সীমান্তবর্তী একটি স্থানের নাম টেকেরঘাট। একসময় এখানে একটি চুনাপাথরের খনি থাকলেও বর্তমানে খনিটির কার্যকারিতা আর নেই। তাহিরপুর থেকে অন্তত ১৮ কিলোমিটার উত্তরে টেকেরঘাট চুনাপাথরের লেক অবস্থিত। টেকেরঘাট চুনাপাথরের লেকের পানি নীল না হলেও বেশ পরিষ্কার। চুনাপাথর খননের ফলে এই লেকটির সৃষ্টি হয়। টেকেরঘাট চুনাপাথরের লেকের অপর প্রান্তে ভারত অবস্থিত হওয়ায় সেখানকার অধিবাসীরা লেকে গোসল করে থাকে। লেকের ভারতীয় অংশের পাহাড়ে চুনা পাথরের বিশাল খণ্ড রয়েছে। টেকেরঘাট চুনাপাথরের লেকের বাংলাদেশ প্রান্তে প্রায় ২০ ফুট উচ্চতার কয়েকটি কৃত্রিম ছোট টিলা রয়েছে। আপনি চাইলে এসব টিলার উপর উঠে কিছু সময় কাটাতে পারেন।{:} ) )
