Brief
Monipuri Para of Khashpur is located in Srimangal Upazila of Moulvibazar district. Majority of the Monipuri population of the country live in Moulvibazar. Adampur and Madhabpur are their main residence. Their products have great demand in all parts of the country and abroad. If a tourist couldn’t attend to the Ras-Mela or the Monipuri village itself; he/she would find these Monipuri products in local markets of the town. The Monipuri community is also renowned for their dance. Their unique dance reflects their tradition and heritage. If you are visiting this part of the world, you should not miss the chance of watching Monipuri dance.
In 1765, during the rule of Bhagyochandra, Manipur Royal Moirangthem Gobinda led a group of Monipuri who deserted Manipur, India and found a settlement in Kapoor in Srimangal. The Manipuri’s has different lifestyle and culture. You can visit them in this village and watch the Monipuri girls knitting yarns, which include Sarees, Shawls, Dupatta, Bed sheets and Bed covers.
How to go
It’s only about 5 km from Srimangal on the Kalighat road. Khashpur Monipuripara is on the right of the entrance to the Phulcherra tea garden. This is also known as Khashgaon.It’s only about 5-7 taka fares by rickshaw. Manipuri’s are also hospitable but you have to give them some time for them to know you.

Things to do
- The Ras-Mela is a yearly celebrated festival of the Manipuri’s’. Every year in November which is the beginning of Bengali month of Agrahayan this festival is arranged. You can visit this Ras-Mela if you are on that particular time of the year.
- Monipuri Community is famous for their culture and traditions. Traditional Monipuri costumes ‘Khami’ and their homemade products are exhibited and sold here. Monipuri community makes their clothing themselves. So you can buy these homemade products.
- Almost every family there owns a handloom. It is a part of their culture to weave their own cloths. Besides Khami they produce various other products like – shawl, sari, bed sheets and bags.

You need to find nearest restaurants in the village or outside. Nearest restaurants are in Srimangal town. But, there are a few food stall in the village.
