ঢাকা বিভাগে অবস্থিত গাজীপুর জেলার আয়তন ১৭৪১.৫৩ বর্গ কিলোমিটার। গাজীপুর সিটি কর্পোরেশন বাংলাদেশের সর্ববৃহৎ সিটি কর্পোরেশন। ৪৯.৩২ বর্গ কিলোমিটার আয়তনের গাজীপুর শহরে ৯টি ওয়ার্ড এবং ৩১টি মহল্লা রয়েছে। এই শহরের মোট জনসংখ্যা ১২৩৫৩১ যার মধ্যে ৫২.৫২% পুরুষ এবং ৪৭.৪৮% মহিলা। প্রতি কিলোমিটার এলাকায় এই শহরে ২৫০৫ জন মানুষ বাস করেন। এই জেলায় দেশের বিভিন্ন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থাপনা অবস্থিত যেমনঃ ইসলামিক প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, বাংলাদেশ ধান গবেষণা ইন্সটিটিউট (বিআরআরআই), বাংলাদেশ কৃষি গবেষণা ইন্সটিটিউট (বিএআরআই), ঢাকা প্রকৌশল ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ইত্যাদি। ১৯৮৪ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হওয়া গাজীপুর জেলায় ৬টি উপজেলা, ৪৬টি ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ, ৭১০টি মৌজা, ২টি মিউনিসিপালিটি এবং ১১৬৩টি গ্রাম রয়েছে। এই জেলায় বার্ষিক সর্বচ্চ গড় তাপমাত্রা হল ৩৬ ডিগ্রী সেলসিয়াস এবং সর্বনিম্ন তাপমাত্রা হল ১২.৭ ডিগ্রী সেলসিয়াস। এই জেলার বার্ষিক গড় বৃষ্টিপাতের পরিমান হল ২৩৭৬ মিলিমিটার।

How to goDhaka-Tongi diversion road has connected Gazipur with Dhaka , and also Tongi – Kaligonj diversion road. There are 7 railway stations in the Gazipur district. They are: Rajendrapur, Sripur, Dhirasrom, Joydevpur, Tongi, satkhamair and Pubail. Gazipur Town is connected through the City Bus.
