Brief

Tarekeshwar Shiv Mandir is located in Natore Rajbari, near to small palace building (ছোট তরফ). This temple is as popularly known as Tarekeshwar Shiv Mandir, but the established name is Sree Sree Baba Tarekeshwar Shiv Mandir. Although this temple was established by Tara Sundari, daughter of Ordhorongeshwari Moharani Bhabani (অরধরঙ্গেশ্বরী মহারানী ভবানী); This old temple represents the ancient Indian architecture of the then King Shivnath Roy, the second son of the Great King Ram Krishno. Everyday many people come here to observe this ancient architecture. Also, people of Hindu religion come here to vow and worship to their god, Lord Shiva and offer deity.

Not only the Shiv Temple, there is also a structure of Snake with five heads named Ponchonag, statue of Lord Hanuman, and statue of Lord Shiv and Sree Krishna. People also worship before these structures to fulfill their desire. There is pond named Tarekeshwari just beside the temple, named after the temple.

How to go

To visit this place, you need to come to Natore Sadar. After reaching at Natore Sadar, take rickshaw to visit Natore Rajbari. After entering into Natore Rajbari, you can find this temple just on your left.

After finding the temple, we came to know that this temple is familiar with the name Binoy Shadhur Mandir (মন্দির) rather 'Radha Gobindo' temple. It's to be mentioned that Binoy Shadhu is taking care of this temple for long 80 years. He said, he was 120 years old. He along with his Shadhu named 'Mongola Rani Das' discovered this temple. It was very hard to find out the real time period of this temple. Interviewing local people and Binoy shadhu, we could assume that it might be a thousand year old temple, which is very near to destruction. A big banyan tree has grown through the middle of this temple. Every Bengali year, people arrange a fair in the month of Chaitro (চৈত্র). Basically, Chaitro Shonkrantir Mela (চৈত্র সংক্রান্তির মেলা) is a common festival in Bangladesh. The temple is located in Ishwaripur, a village in Shyamnagar upazilla of Satkhira. The temple is visited by pilgrims from all over, irrespective of sectarian differences. Worship is done by the priest every Saturday and Tuesday at noon time. But before 1971, there was daily routine of worship. Every year on the day of Kali puja, the present Caretakers of the temple conduct a ceremony. There is also a Mela taking place around the temple compound.{:}{:bn}

যেশোরেশ্বরী কালীমন্দির সাতক্ষীরা জেলার শ্যামনগর উপজেলার ঈশ্বরীপুর গ্রামে অবস্থিত। দেবী কালীকে উৎসর্গ করে নির্মাণ করা এই মন্দিরটি বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম জনপ্রিয় হিন্দু মন্দির। ‘যেশোরেশ্বরী’ শব্দের অর্থ ‘যশোরের দেবী’। বলা হয়ে থাকে যে মানুষ যেশোরেশ্বরীকে স্বাতির ৫১টি পিঠের একটি বলে বিশ্বাস করে থাকে। বলা হয়ে থাকে যে শিবের রুদ্র তাণ্ডবের ফলে এই স্থানেই স্বাতির শরীরের বিভিন্ন অংশ পড়েছিল। কথায় আছে যে মহারাজা প্রতাপদিত্ত্যর সেনাপতি এখানকার জঙ্গল থেকে একটি আলৌকিক আলোর রেখা বের হয়ে মানুষের হাতুর তালুর আকারের একটি পাথরখণ্ডের উপর পড়তে দেখেন। পরবর্তীতে প্রতাপদিত্ত্য কালীর পূজা করতে আরম্ভ করেন এবং এই কালী মন্দিরটি নির্মাণ করেন।

যশোরের নামানুসারে ‘যেশোরেশ্বরী’ নামটি রাখা হয়েছে। মন্দিরটির নির্মাণ সম্পর্কে এও বিশ্বাস করা হয়ে থাকে যে আনারি নামক জনৈক ব্রাহ্মণ ‘যেশোরেশ্বরী’ পিঠের জন্য ১০০ দরজা বিশিষ্ট একটি মন্দির নির্মাণ করেন যেটি নির্মাণের সময়কাল জানা যায়নি। পরবর্তীতে রাজা লক্ষ্মণ সেন এবং মহারাজা প্রতাপদিত্ত্য নিজ নিজ শাসনকালে মন্দিরটি নির্মাণ করেন।

Joy Kalibari Temple, one of the oldest temples in Natore, is located in Natore Sadar Upazila at Lalbazar area. This temple is approximately 300 years old, was built around the beginning of 18th century by Dayaram (দয়ারাম) Roy (1680-1760), the great and influential Dewan of Queen Bhabani (1716-1795) of Natore and the establisher of Dighapatia Royal Family. This temple has 2 buildings. Alongside the main building, in the right, there is a Shiv Mandir. Every weekend, people from all over the district come to this historical and beautiful temple to worship and pay their respects. There are various religious occasions like Durga Puja, Kali Puja etc. which are being celebrated here every year with much pomp and splendor.
