Brief

Jadukata River and Barik Tila are located in the same place. Jadukata River is another blue river at Sunamganj. Jadukata River is originated from the Meghalaya Hills of India & flows into Bangladesh. The river is very wide in the rainy season. If you visit in the winter, the mile long sandy bank will tell you about the fierceness of the river at rainy season. The color of the water is bluish. It’s very clear that you can almost see the river bed from the bank. You’ll find lot of large stones everywhere on the bank.

There is a hillock beside the river with 150 feet of height. It is said as Barik Tila or Barikka Tila by the local people. There is a pillar available at the hill which defines the border of Bangladesh and India. On top of it everything looks very small. The pillar between the hills is the border line between Bangladesh and India. You should be very careful about Indian BSF.

This river has produced lot of brunches & canals, but all of those joined with the Surma River.

How to go

You need to reach Sunamganj at the very beginning. The GPS of the Jadukata River is (25°11’27.03″N, 91°14’56.05″E). You need to hire motor bike. It is around 300 taka for two people on a bike (same from Sunamganj town). It will take 60-80 minutes to reach the beautiful river.

You can reach Sunamganj only by road. There is no direct rail, air or water transportation system available.

There are not much eating facilities despite some shops where a bit of snacks, juice are found. It’s better to carry food if someone wants to go there.

Shomeswari River (সোমেশ্বরী নদী), one of the most beautiful rivers of Bangladesh, located at the Netrakona (নেত্রকোনা) District. During the Birisiri (বিরিশিরি) tour, any traveler must have to meet with this river. River is shallow during winter, but fierce during rainy season for its enormous flow.

The river is created from the streams from the Garo Hill (গারো পাহাড়) at the north of our country in India. Entered at Bangladesh through the Bijoypur (বিজয়পুর) of Netrakona. The bank of the river is a bit higher compare to others from Bangladesh.

Near to the Birishiri (বিরিশিরি) town, the river segregated into two. One is called old Shomeswari (সোমেশ্বরী নদী), which later shrunk in size. The other one (new one) later joined with river Kongsho (কংশ নদী) and keep that name Kongsho (কংশ নদী) until joined with river Shurma (সুরমা নদী).

During winter, the level of the water at Shomeswari River stays very low and anyone can cross the river by walking. During rainy season, you can hire engine boat and have some boat journey. It is recommended to visit the river during rainy season to enjoy the maximum beauty.

নেত্রকোনার বিরিশিরিতে আসলে আপনাকে অবশ্যই বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম সুন্দর এই নদীটি দেখতে হবে। শীতকালে সোমেশ্বরী নদীতে পানি কম থাকে তাই পায়ে হেটেই নদীটি পাড় হওয়া যায়। তবে, বর্ষাকালে এই নদীটির পানি অনেক বেড়ে যায় বিধায় নৌকা ছাড়া নদীটি পাড় হওয়া অসম্ভব। পানিতে পরিপূর্ণ এই নদীটির সৌন্দর্য উপভোগ করতে বর্ষাকালই এখানে আসার সবচেয়ে ভাল সময়। ভারতের গারো পাহাড় থেকে উৎপত্তি হয়ে সোমেশ্বরী নদীটি নেত্রকোনার বিজয়পুর দিয়ে বাংলাদেশে প্রবেশ করেছে। দেশের অন্যান্য নদীর তুলনায় এই নদীর পাড় খানিকটা উঁচু।

বিরিশিরির কাছে সোমেশ্বরী নদীটি দু ভাগ হয়েছে। একটি ভাগের নাম পুরাতন সোমেশ্বরী যেটি পরবর্তীতে সংকীর্ণ হয়ে গিয়েছে। অপর অংশটি কংশ নদীর সাথে মিলিত হয়ে কংশ নামধারন করে সুরমা নদীর সাথে মিলিত হয়েছে।

River Dhepa is in north Bengal; more precisely it is near to the famous "Kantaji Temple" of Dinajpur. River Dhepa is originated from the river Atrai, and then it falls at the river Punarbhaba. This is a shallow river, and the average depth of the river was around 2-4 feet. The length of the river is around 40 kilometer.

The river is itself beautiful. The two banks of the river make it more beautiful due to the various kinds of crops fields. Main crop field is corn, but there are others like paddy, and some vegetable fields.

The water of the river is not muddy, it’s clear. Due to the shallowness of the river, you can easily see the bottom of the river easily. Also there are some very small mound of soil is visible throughout the whole river. Some mound contains green plants.

Another beauty of the river is, the nest of the bird "Kingfisher" at the bank of the river. There are some places where the banks are too high. At the soil, the kingfisher birds made their nest. It’s a lovely scene. They are not only gorgeous to see, but also exciting when they are about to catch a fish from the water.

Comilla has two predominant rivers. One is Meghna River, and another one is Gomti River (গোমতি নদী). If you visit the river Gomti (গোমতি নদী) in the dry season, you may see that the water level of the river is too low. However, the flow of the river isn't less at all. You can experience the mighty flow of the river during the swim.

Rupsha River and Bridge are located in south-west of Bangladesh. It is formed as a result of union of the Bhairab and Atrai rivers. It changes its name to Pasur River near Chalna while flowing into the Bay of Bengal.

Rupsha is a very popular river in Bangladesh. Flowing by the sides of Khulna city, it connects to the Bay of Bengal by Poshur River at Mongla channel. This river has very good natural sight in both of its banks.

In the bank of this important river, many fisheries, dock yard, ship yard, factories are located. Many fishermen run their families through fishing. The bridge over this river, known as Khan Jahan Ali Rupsha Bridge, connects Khulna and Bagerhat Districts.
