Brief

A mile further of Bhawal Rajbari, there is another place where Hindu people did cremation for dead bodies (though it was only used for the royal members of Vawal). It is also known as Vawal Raj Shoshaneswari (ভাওয়াল রাজ শ্মশানেশ্বরী).

This funeral place is beside the Chilai River which is right now in moribund condition. Beside the old edifice, you can find a newly built temple. The GPS coordinate of the place is (24° 0’25.03″N, 90°25’50.63″E). If you have time, you can explore the proximity area.

How to go

Using Dhaka Paribahan come to Shibbari of Joydebpur. From the Shibbari bus stand, ask to a rickshaw and he will take you there for 20-25 taka. The GPS coordinate of the place is (24° 0’25.03″N, 90°25’50.63″E).

Maijpara Moth (মাইজপারা মঠ) belongs to 300 years old long history, situated just beside the Babu Bari dighi (large pond). During the reign of Dewan Murshid Kuli Khan, this Moth was being constructed on the grave of Zamindar Tara Prashad Ray (তারা প্রসাদ রায়) . Later in Bengali year 1212, this moth was being reconstructed.

Interviewing local folks we came to know that, this 200 feet high moth's apex was being broken by three days long rain few years ago due to the lacking in care of conservation and preservation.

At the apex there were two copper pitcher being torn down lately and a rumor spread that there were some very precious treasure inside of it. Local people gathered to see. Sreenagar Thana police brought those to the police station. After cutting the pitcher with the help of oxygen Gas cutter, they found some sort of limes & brick mortars inside of it.

Telia Hindu Moth (তেলিয়া হিন্দু মঠ) is a sacred place for Hindu religious people in Shibpur Upazila,Narsingdi. It is one of the common religious structures in Bangladesh. It was built in 20th century. In several cases, this kind of structures is a complex with the crematorium.Likewise,there is a Crematorium along with the monastery or moth (মঠ). It’s a complex of two brick made structures situated in very short distance. It’s situated just beside the river Hariabhanga (Branch of Old Brahmanputra). All around of this Monastery is very calm & quiet. So far eye goes, you can just observe a vast cultivable land.

Architectural property and layout:

The Architectural property of this monastery is very simple and regular like the others moth in Bangladesh. It’s has grown narrower from bottom to top by three steps. The inner part of this monastery is hollow. From bottom, the second step of this structure contains arch shaped door which are originally a closed design. In the upper portion of these door design are decorated with different kinds of flower & leafs motives. On the top most of this monastery there is a iron three head which symbolizes the icon of Hindu Religion.

If heading to the Village Putia, this feature is situated in left side of the road and crematorium is in right side.
