Cheragdani Mosque and Dighi are located in Jhenaidah district of Khulna division; the Dighi is also known as Dhol Somudro. The design and decoration of Cheragdani Mosque are very ancient and also the Dighi. But it looks very nice, as the interior decoration is pretty decent. By seeing the handwork on the wall, it is likely to impress a tourist. Most people in the area pray here. In Friday, the Mosque Committee do not accommodate all people.

There is natural beauty close to the mosque. Its made more alluring by the presence of bird and trees.. The place where the Muslims say their prayer is a huge place with nice decoration. The cut of stones made it even more elegant. This place is surrounded by trees and garden. The fragrance provides a different feeling. There are so many books here that can tell you about all the secrets about the world.

There is a Dighi known as Cheragdani dighi. A very big Dighi consisting of some crocodiles in the big dighi. They come near the people call them and give them something to eat.

How to go

The transportation medium in the town is Rickshaw or van. Rickshaws and van can be found at ease. After reaching Jhenaidaha, a person can head there by Van or rickshaw.

Jhenaidah is linked by road with Dhaka. You can take a bus from Dhaka to reach Jhenaidah. The road distance between Dhaka and Jhenaidah is 210 kilometers.

There are no direct flights available from Dhaka to Jhenaidah. However, if you want to travel by air, you have to first come to Jessore by plane. From there, you will have to take a road transport to come to Jhenaidah district. The distance from Jessore to Jhenaidah is 45 kilometers.

Shahi Eidgah was built on a hill by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in the 17th century. In the two of Muslim Eids, people offer their Eid prayer here. It looks like a fort. 100,000 people can pray here in a single Jamat. There was no gate previously though now, gates are built to ensure safety. Now, government is expanding the area of Eidgah to accommodate 3 times more people at a time.

Dhamrai Mosque (Dhamrai Bazar Jame Masjid) is located at Dhamrai Bazar. Dhamrai is an Upazila of Dhaka district which is beside Manikganj District. At the Dhamrai Bazar, you'll find this nicely decorated mosque.

This looks a bit old fashioned and the Minaret of the mosque is designed flamboyantly. The minaret consist of small white colored marble stones. The mosque has around 6 domes at the top of it. All of them are white colored.

During the regime of Sultan Hussain Shah, Choto Sona Mosque was built from 1493-1519. The 50 domes of the mosque were adorned with precious elements; so it was named as Choto Sona Mosque. It is perpetuated by the Department of Archeology and Museums, Government of Bangladesh. The adorned precious elements which were responsible for giving this name, are nonexistent now. The premise of the mosque is on an overall area of 42 m from east to west and 43.5 m from north to south. The mosque is located 3.5 km from Kotwali gate, 0.5 km to south of Mughal Tankhana complex in the quarter of Firozpur. The photo of this mosque is printed in our 20 taka note.

Nawabbari Mosque of Dhonbari is built at the outside of the Nawab Manzil premise, so that local people can access it during their prayer time. Initially, Nawabbari Mosque of Dhonbari was an old fashioned three domes mosque similar to the other ancient mosques from Bangladesh. But later this mosque was extended to accommodate more people. Extended part is having 10/12 minarets at top which are similar to Persian design. This extension with the old fashioned mosque made it a hybrid looking mosque. Not enough antiquities are left now a days.

But still, you'll love to see this mosque. It’s neat and clean everywhere. Apart from the mosque, there are few micro edifices are available around the mosque. I am not sure what those are.

There are few old graves available at the graveyard which is at the western side of the mosque. Since 1929, after the death of Nawab Ali Choudhury (নবাব আলী চৌধুরী) the Holy Qur'an has been recited continually beside his grave.

জনসাধারণ যেন নামাজ পড়তে পারেন সেজন্য এই মসজিদটি নবাব মঞ্জিলের সীমানার বাইরে নির্মাণ করা হয়েছিল। বাংলাদেশের অন্যান্য প্রাচীন মসজিদের মত এটিও একটি তিনগম্বুজ বিশিষ্ট মসজিদ ছিল। পরবর্তীতে ধারনক্ষমতা বাড়ানোর জন্য মসজিদটিকে বর্ধিত করা হয়। মসজিদটির বর্ধিত অংশে পারস্য নকশার সাথে মিল রেখে ১০ টি থেকে ১২ টি মিনার নির্মাণ করা হয়। বর্ধিতকরনের কারনে মসজিদটির প্রাচীন বৈশিষ্ট্য অনেকাংশেই লোপ পেয়েছে।

তবে এখনও পরিষ্কার পরিছন্ন মসজিদটি দেখে আপনার ভাল লাগবে। মসজিদের আশেপাশে কিছু ক্ষুদ্রাকৃতির স্তম্ভ রয়েছে যদিও এসব কি এবং কেন এখানে রয়েছে তা জানা যায়নি। মসজিদের পশ্চিমে অবস্থিত কবরস্থানে কিছু প্রাচীন কবর রয়েছে। ১৯২৯ সালে নবাব আলী চৌধুরীর মৃত্যুর পর তাঁর কবরের পাশে সবসময় পবিত্র কোরআন শরীফ পড়া হয়ে আসছে।
