How to go

From Kuakata beach, Gangamati Reserved Forest is  in the eastern end of the Kuakata beach. You can get local transport (bike) to reach Gangamati Reserved. BRTC bus reaches Kuakata from Dhaka, departing from Saidabad bus terminal. It usually takes about 12 hours to reach there. The BRTC buses are comparatively good.

How To Reach: Patuakhali District

From the capital of Dhaka to Patuakhali, there are three options of transport available. Basic information about these routes to reach Patuakhali has been mentioned in the other part.

The road distance from Dhaka to Patuakhali is 319 km. You can take a bus from Sayedabad or Gabtoli counters of Dhaka to reach Patuakhali. There are two routes by bus to arrive at Patuakhali district. One goes from Dhaka to Mawa to Barisal to Patuakhali and another one drives from Dhaka to Aricha to Barisal to Patuakhali. The bus fare generally ranges from Tk 450 to Tk 700.

1. Saudia Paribahan:
Bus leaves from Dhaka every hour from 10 am to 12 pm.

Launch is a comfortable and low expense transport to go from Dhaka to Patuakhali. From Sadarghat of Dhaka, two to three launches drive to Patuakhali. The launches usually start at 5:30 pm, 6:30 pm and 7 pm and arrive in the destination at 6 am of the following morning.

Names of some of the launch services are: Saikat, Sattar Khan, Achol and Sundarban.

Barisal is also connected to Dhaka through air. Flight starts from Dhaka airport and arrive at Barisal Airport. From there on, you have to take a road transport to reach the district of Patuakhali.
Biman bangladesh is currently the only airline, offering flights to Barisal from Dhaka.

Things to do

You can view a small portion of Mangrove forest with variety trees and plants in this forest such as keora, gewa, baen, kankra, goran, hetal, golpata. Different wild animals like wild boar, deer donkey exist there and you might also see varieties of bird.
Evening is the ideal time for viewing the sun caste shadows on the abstract open mangrove roots.
