Brief

Khoiyachhora Waterfall is a magnificent waterfall of Chittagong. On this trail there are few more big waterfalls which are amazing. There are also some underground deep caves filled with water and fresh water natural pool. It is notable that if you want to go to first step of the waterfall you will have to climb and the trail is little bit risky.

This waterfall is undoubtedly the biggest waterfall according to the size and structure. Its 9 main steps and other scattered steps prove that this is the unique. There is a hill in Khoiyachhora which lit all the time, even into the rains because of gas.

How to go

Khoiyachhora Waterfall is very easy to access especially if you are from Chittagong town, but not that much difficult either if you are from Dhaka. First come to Boro Takia Bazar of Mirsarai. You can do this by leaving the Dhaka-Chittagong bus on highway. Your dropping zone will be (22°45’39.54″N, 91°34’55.56″E) which is before the Boro Takia Bazar.

From there you can start trekking for 15 minutes through the concrete road and it will lead you toward a rail crossing. The GPS coordinate of that place is (22°45’55.98″N, 91°35’33.05″E). After the rail crossing, the typical Bangladeshi country road will lead you towards the bottom of the hills (at the water stream of the waterfall).

Until reaching the water stream you can ask for help from the local villagers. Even you can hire anyone from them to enlighten you further. After reaching the water stream, just follow the trail around that, and stay beside the stream and it will automatically lead you towards the waterfall itself. The GPS coordinate of the bottom steps of the Khoiyachhora Waterfall is (22°46’9.44″N, 91°36’41.77″E).

Depending upon your walking speed it will be around 1 to 2 hours of trekking for single trip. It will require same amount of time when you’ll come back from there. So prepare yourself by doing exercise if you are not familiar with regular walking.

Though you do not require any food for such a short trip. However, if you think you may need something to eat during the travel break, then keep some dry food with you. Amid of the woods you’ll not find any shop or stall to buy your things.

Travel Tips

There is no hotel in Bartakiya Bazaar. So if you want to stay here you will have to camp with tent or you will have to go to Chittagong or Sitakunda for hotels.
On the trail you will find only one small tea stall. So it will be a good idea to take some dry food with you.
Ask local people for directions.
Do not go very near to the underground cave. It’s too deep.
If you are a good at swimming you can swim into the natural water pool. Otherwise just avoid them.

You may expect poor road condition and other hectic factors. If you start your journey after a quick breakfast from Khagrachhari town, you can start for Dighinala (দীঘিনালা) by using CNG auto rickshaw. It actually costs 500 taka, but you can bargain to manage at best 450 taka. It would be advisable to contact a tour guide for directions. During the journey, you can enjoy the exquisite beauty beside the road from the vehicle. If you start your journey at 8:00 am, then you can expect to reach Dighinala at 10:00 am morning. We can reach Nondoram (নন্দরাম) village by 11:00 at morning through bike. The village is beside the river Kasalong (কাসালং). This village is actually located at the Sajek union of Rangamati (সাজেক, রাঙামাটি). Before this village, an Army camp is located on the way. Travelers must entry their names to that camp. You can have tea in that village and then start your trekking again through the hillocks of Rangamati. Some tribal people pronounce Sijuk canal as Shishuk khal (শিশুক খাল). The canal is formed after joining two mighty streams. The two waterfalls are located at those two streams. You can explore the left side stream first (furthest) and the right side (nearest) stream later. The level of the water depends on the season, but you can expect to face around an average height of 3-4 ft. But at some points the water level is near 6 ft. Also the canal is totally covered with dark forest. As the depth of the water is very high, the flow of the water is less. Lot of rotten leafs are available on the water. At some places, the mud under the water produce gasses with bad odors with bubbles when pressed by feet. The more you progress, the more you welcome the Hati Poka (হাতি পোকা).Those microscopic insect bite can cause lots of pain. Wasps and scary looking mosquitoes are there too. To add these misery, you may find some leafs stinging. A soft brushing those leafs with arms cause you inflammation. After passing through such hideous, you may finally reach near to the waterfall. We can hear the roaring sound of the waterfall but may not see that. That portion of the Jhiri (ঝিরি) is covered with large rocks. All of the rocks are covered with mosses and ferns. Those are the best hideout for snakes and other reptiles. Also crossing those stones are not easy. After jumping and bumping through rocks, you can finally reach in front of the Sijuk waterfall. It is having mighty water flow. Madhabkunda Waterfall and Eco Park is situated in Barlekha Upazila in Moulvibazar District of Sylhet Division. It is one of the largest waterfalls in Bangladesh. The waterfall is a popular tourist spot in Bangladesh. Big boulders, surrounding forest, and the adjoining streams attract many tourists for picnic parties and day trips. The 267 hectors Madhabkunda Eco Park (est. 2001) is located at Madhabkunda under Moulvibazar District. This area was declared as Eco Park with a view to conserve the Madhabkunda waterfall and surrounding biodiversity. The Madhabkunda Waterfall is the most attractive site of this Eco Park which is about 200 ft. (61 m) high. A section of ‘Khasia’ tribe lives in the forest villages of this area. They are engaged in some agro-economic activities in the forestland.

Amiakhum Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Bangladesh and an excellent place to travel. Rumanapara Waterfall is located in the Ruma Upazila of Bandarban District. Rumana Para, a tribal village is located at the source of "Ruma Khal". You'll find plenty of very small (3-5 feet tall) waterfalls around. Nearest is a twin waterfall. It has no name. Since it’s near to the Rumana Para, locals call it Rumanapara Waterfall. If you are blessed with few days of staying at Rumana Para, then you can easily have a bath there. Local village people use this waterfall area for their washing and bath.

There is a small water basin beneath falls. You can have your bath there, and swim at that tiny water pot. It will be lovely to sink yourself inside that cold water. To get near the waterfall, you have to get down around 30-40 feet from the main walking road. It’s a narrow path, and if its rainy season, it will be a bit hard to get down.

রুমানাপাড়া একটি আদিবাসীদের গ্রাম যেখান থেকে রুমা খালের উৎপত্তি হয়েছে। এখানে বেশকিছু ঝর্ণা দেখতে পাবেন যেগুলো ৩ ফুট থেকে ৫ ফুট উঁচু। রুমানাপাড়ার কাছেই একটি জমজ ঝর্ণা রয়েছে। এই ঝর্ণাটির কোন নাম না থাকলেও রুমানাপাড়ার কাছে অবস্থিত হওয়ায় স্থানীয়রা এই ঝর্ণাটিকে রুমানাপাড়া ঝর্ণা নামে ডেকে থাকে। রুমানাপাড়ায় যদি আপনি কয়েকদিন থাকতে পারেন তবে এই ঝর্ণায় খুব সহজেই গোসল করতে পারবেন। গ্রামের বাসিন্দারা গোসল ও ধোয়া মাজার কাজে এখানকার ঝর্ণাগুলোর পানি ব্যবহার করে থাকে।

ঝর্ণাটির নীচে একটি ছোট গহ্বর রয়েছে। এখানে আপনি গোসল করার পাশাপাশি সাঁতারও কাটতে পারবেন। ঝর্ণার ঠাণ্ডা পানিতে গা ভেজালে আপনি সত্যিকার অর্থেই অন্যরকম এক অনুভুতি অর্জন করবেন। ঝর্ণার পানিতে নামতে চাইলে আপনাকে হাঁটার মূল রাস্তা থেকে প্রায় ৩০-৪০ ফুট সরু রাস্তায় হাঁটতে হবে। তবে, বর্ষাকালে এই পথে হাঁটা আপনার জন্য একটু কষ্টসাধ্য হবে।
