Brief

Nearly 100 years old Shiv-Kali Temple is situated at Bojrojogini Bazar in Munshiganj District. It was established in 1345 Bengali Year by a local merchant. Few years back the temple was attacked by some extremists and they occurred some damages. The main name plate was hit by a shovel and one of its corner was broken. Now one part of the temple is almost broken but the main part is repaired by the local Hindu community. There was a large shiva lingam was there which was taken by the government and now displayed in the National Museum in Shahbag.

The devotee Chandra Shil said, now the temple will receive some non-government funding to keep it running.

How To Reach: Munshiganj District

There are several transport is available from Dhaka to Munshiganj. The bus services are “Nayan Paribahan”, “Dighir par Paribahan” and “Dhaka Transport”, all of the buses used to start from “Gulistan” of Dhaka. It will cost you 60-80 taka, and will require 1 hrs to 2 hrs bus journey depending upon the road traffic.

Also you can hire CNG auto rickshaw from the “Postogola”, and it will take you 250-350 to take you at Muktarpur bridge. Remember, if you are hiring CNG, make sure who will provide the toll of the bridge. For you information, the toll fee is 20 taka. So negotiate with the driver of CNG about who will provide the toll.

Where to Stay

Though the district is just beside the Dhaka, still its hard to find a suitable hotel from the district. The main reason, may be people from dhaka used to come this place for a single day trip. But anyway, if you need to stay at Munshiganj town, that case I’ll suggest you to stay at “Hotel Comfort” this one is the best from the town. Also you there is another one which is “Hotel three star international”. But the quality of the rooms of this hotel is not that much good. For both cases, it will take 100-700 taka per night depending upon the room.

Handial Jagannath Temple (হান্ডিয়াল জগন্নাথ মন্দির) is an old temple located at Handial (হান্ডিয়াল) village of Chatmohor Upazila of Pabna district. As it is located at the Handial village, it is known as Handial Mandir too.

It is a single door small sized temple which was built using bricks. This temple gets narrower as it is progressing upwards. Only the front wall of the temple has some terracotta. The temple is placed over a high plinth.

From the inscription, it is found that the temple was reconstructed by someone named Bhobani Proshad during 1590. But scholars are assuming that the temple was built even another 100 years before from that time.

The whole temple premise is under a boundary. Another two newly temples are being constructed at the both side of the old temple. There is a small chariot (রথ) available inside the premise. Also, a Mondop (মন্ডপ) is available for the upcoming Hindu festival Durga Puja (দূর্গা পূজা).

The nearest Rakhain village from Kuakata beach is Keranipara. There is a 100 year old temple in Keranipara known as Seema Mandir which consists of 8 different metals. While entering the temple you should take his/her shoes off. Many tourist come here to visit the temple.

Jora Shiv Mandir is located at the Sukulpotti area of Natore Sadar. It is assumed that this Shiv Temple was established by the adopted daughter of High Queen Rani Bhabani. In Sangskrit language, Shiv means happy/benevolent/kind/eminent. Also, as for a person’s name, it is meant as auspicious/ propitous. This temple is also known as Sree Sree Mohakali and Jora Shiv Mandir.

In the Bangla month of Falgun, the 14th lunar day’s night of dark fortnight is considered as the Shiv-night which is very auspicious for Hindu women. This temple holds the architectural beauty and history of many many years.The outer scenario and design can easily depict the expert artistical work and the inclination of hte then architects. every year, Hindu community celebrate very gorgeous Durga Puja in this temple.

The temple is located in Ishwaripur, a village in Shyamnagar upazilla of Satkhira. The temple is visited by pilgrims from all over, irrespective of sectarian differences. Worship is done by the priest every Saturday and Tuesday at noon time. But before 1971, there was daily routine of worship. Every year on the day of Kali puja, the present Caretakers of the temple conduct a ceremony. There is also a Mela taking place around the temple compound.{:}{:bn}

যেশোরেশ্বরী কালীমন্দির সাতক্ষীরা জেলার শ্যামনগর উপজেলার ঈশ্বরীপুর গ্রামে অবস্থিত। দেবী কালীকে উৎসর্গ করে নির্মাণ করা এই মন্দিরটি বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম জনপ্রিয় হিন্দু মন্দির। ‘যেশোরেশ্বরী’ শব্দের অর্থ ‘যশোরের দেবী’। বলা হয়ে থাকে যে মানুষ যেশোরেশ্বরীকে স্বাতির ৫১টি পিঠের একটি বলে বিশ্বাস করে থাকে। বলা হয়ে থাকে যে শিবের রুদ্র তাণ্ডবের ফলে এই স্থানেই স্বাতির শরীরের বিভিন্ন অংশ পড়েছিল। কথায় আছে যে মহারাজা প্রতাপদিত্ত্যর সেনাপতি এখানকার জঙ্গল থেকে একটি আলৌকিক আলোর রেখা বের হয়ে মানুষের হাতুর তালুর আকারের একটি পাথরখণ্ডের উপর পড়তে দেখেন। পরবর্তীতে প্রতাপদিত্ত্য কালীর পূজা করতে আরম্ভ করেন এবং এই কালী মন্দিরটি নির্মাণ করেন।

যশোরের নামানুসারে ‘যেশোরেশ্বরী’ নামটি রাখা হয়েছে। মন্দিরটির নির্মাণ সম্পর্কে এও বিশ্বাস করা হয়ে থাকে যে আনারি নামক জনৈক ব্রাহ্মণ ‘যেশোরেশ্বরী’ পিঠের জন্য ১০০ দরজা বিশিষ্ট একটি মন্দির নির্মাণ করেন যেটি নির্মাণের সময়কাল জানা যায়নি। পরবর্তীতে রাজা লক্ষ্মণ সেন এবং মহারাজা প্রতাপদিত্ত্য নিজ নিজ শাসনকালে মন্দিরটি নির্মাণ করেন।
